Apple loses another iPhone prototype

Apple has reportedly yet again lost an iPhone prototype in a San Francisco bar. Mirroring a similar mishandling of a then-top-secret iPhone 4 last year, CNET reports that an employee of the technology giant misplaced an iPhone 5 prototype in San Francisco bar Cava 22 in late July.Apple is said to have electronically traced the missing handset to a two-floor, single-family home in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighbourhood. However, when San Francisco police and Apple's investigators visited the residence, a man in his 20s denied knowing anything about the phone and police found nothing. Apple employees even allegedly offered the man money for the phone "no questions asked", but he continued to deny having any knowledge of its whereabouts. So far nobody's gone public with the missing iPhone, but we imagine Apple's a little concerned after the last missing prototype ended up getting flogged to a gadget site for $5,000. According to CNET, the new missing device may have been sold on Craigslist for just $200.A senior executive at Swiss carrier Swisscom reportedly said in July that Apple is targeting a September US release date set for the new iPhone.
