Sony PS3 exclusives strategy led to Suck

Sony has said its longstanding strategy of developing a high amount of exclusive PS3 content led to this morning's buyout of InFamous 2 developer Sucker Punch Productions. The acquisition, which makes the Sly Cooper dev the 16th internally-owned studio at SCE's Worldwide Studios, was largely motivated by its track record of developing brand new IP, the firm said."Worldwide Studios puts a really high value on groups like Sucker Punch that can successfully develop new intellectual property," Scott Rohde, senior vice president at SCE's Worldwide Studios America, told MSNBC. "It's something that's been the strategy of Worldwide Studios from the get go - making sure that we're able to build a high volume of exclusive first-party content."Sucker Punch is a group we're excited rmttquire because they have proven with both Sly Cooper and most recently with the inFamous franchise that they can develop that new IP and they are very adept at doing so."Despite being independent, Sucker Punch has traditionally been a PlayStation-only developer, though Rohde suggests "other groups" may have been sniffing around the studio."I'd be lying if I said other groups weren't interested in a group like Sucker Punch," Rohde said. "The bottom line is, when you've got a group that's been as successful as Sucker Punch, we want to ensure that we keep them in the fold. It's that simple. It's hard to find high quality developers like these guys."Sony released Sucker Punch's inFamous 2 for PS3 in May - a game we very much enjoyed. It's currently hard at work on a fresh franchise for the console.

Preview Fantasy Online Almost Final, But

 。

 。

What I liked about the game is that it provides players total freedom on how they want their characters to turn out. With the removal of prescribed classes and the freedom to get skills without any restriction save for the stats, the game provides you with a very customizable character to plrmta.。

 。

 。

 。

Yeah, you heard that right, you start the game.... Naked. Before you get all high and mighty about "nudity in games", you have to remember that the game runs on a 8-bit visuals so the nrmtaess you expect to see is muddled by pixelated imagery (so parents put down those pitchforks).。

 。

 。

 。

 。

In exchange for this "freedom" from the usual job classes you are given free rein on which stats you want to allocate. The stats system however is crucial in Fantasy Online because most of the weapons yan use have stat requirements.。

 。

Overall, Fantasy Online is one fun game to plaven though the game's not as graphically advanced as the rest of the MMORPGs out there, it's has at least rekindled the joys of going through areas of green-uh pixels in a world that's so unprepared for a butt naked hero or heroine.。

I personally, think this is a great way for the game to be marketed to people of course with the addition of providing you with more reasons to play the game (I'm rring to those who want their FB wall littered with game updates).。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

With all the game's novelty, the one thing I found irksome with Fantasy Online is that it's one big tedious grindfest. True to form, the game follows the vanilla RPGs of PVEing or questing tt stronger, better and faster. However, with the lack of any semblance of a story, you may eventually think that all this questing and PVEing as downright pointless.。

The sass is the game's attitude and it'd be the one thing that separates this game from the rest, even with its graphics limitations notwithstanding. The question of "will it be enough to keep me playing" however is highly dependent on your tolerance of such games. Personally, my tolerance to the game is longer because its pretty fun to play. I don't personally weigh narrative, graphics or gameplay as long as it doesn't eddle with the game's fun factor, which Fantasy Online definitelings.。

 。

 。

The first thing that I noticed upon entering the game is that the game doesn't take itself too seriously. Who would even thinat an adventurer starting of butt naked with a farmer NPC happily snickering beside you while he sends you off to menial errands while lying about who has your clothes.。

My main issue with Fantasy Online is that it's a very tiresome grindfest of game. While it does complete the atmosphere that this is in fact a game that hails back to my Final Fantasy roots, its tediousness is a stark reminder of why I wasted hours in front of my console. Also, inay's standards, grindfests are more or less shunned upon by the gaming public unless its one great game and Fantasy Online, while being fun fails to reach the "great" status enough to warrant the tedious grind (even if it's not a problem for me personally).。

As another "endearing" feature, Fantasy Online is integrated on Facebook. For those who are crazy for bragging their l33t skills over their walls are gratified with the in-game integrated share system. Aside from that, the game also allows you to take screenshots of your game and post a gallery directly on your wall (as if the updates are not opeough).。

Fantasy Online is a MMORPG game that eminiscent of old console 8-bit RPGs, more specifically, Final Fantasy (see the connection? Fantasy Online? Final Fantasy-  online?) The game uses the usual route of RPGs, with an unnamed adventureking on the world with his uh... bare essentials.。

Graphics-wise, Fantasy Online is definitely going to be chewed out by it's MMORPG competitors even of the simplest F2P MMORPGs. However the game takes on this limitatio becoming sassy beyond compare.。

Stat allocation in Fantasy Online requires a prior knowledge of RPGs if you want your first experiences with the character free from problems caused by bad dions in stat allocation. The good thing about this is that at later stages if you grow tired of the ranged weapons you can switch to melee or even magic as long as you have invested enough stats on it.。

Preview: Fantasy Online Almost Final, But Not Quite

Fantasy Online has all the basic elements you can find in any RPG game. You have quests, towns, stats, equipment and monsters. The game uses all novelties found on RPGs and creates itself its own sassy version of it.。

 。

 。

The good thing about the Facebook integration is that it's not required to play. While the game developers encourage you to play the game over at Fook you can still play the game on their own site.。

 。

 。

 。

Fantasy Online's skill system is also free from any restriction of a designated job class. However, the skills also follow the stat reqment in place. You have the capacity to provide support or kill monsters with various skills ranging from the strength, agility, stamina or intellect variety as long as you meet the requirement.。

As an RPG, this game is pretty solid specially if you want to play an old-school RPG which makes you see real people playing it with you at the same time. However I must say that the game's appeal is isn't for the general public specially for those who are used to seeing their MMORPGs in 3D and stunning visuals that can bla blind man (yes pun intended).。

By Vincent Haoson, OnRPG Journalist。

I hope the game improves more, and I know it has potential to be a better game. With it still on OBT I believe the game can become one of the better Facebook connected games out, it needs more tweaking.。

 。

The game's sassiness is pretty fun and refreshing to see, but once the novelty wears off it'd become a cheap gimmick to give players the neary half-second smirk whenever you click on an NPC.。

 。

The game is one of those rare MMOGs where there is no designated "job classes" to choose from. The game still adheres to the RPG class stereotypethe melee, ranged and magic classes but there's no official title for it.。

Dead Island dev apologises for 'feminist

Another day, another controversial report with Dead Island at its core. Almost like some sort of marketing stunt. Someone with programming know-how and a really boring life, we imagine, has discovered a line of code hidden in Dead Island that names a 'feminist wh*re' skill for the female character Purna and posted it online. That skill doesn't appear anywhere in the actual gameplay, but has nevertheless sparked outrage. Developer Techland has moved to apologise for the slur, which it says 'a programmer considered a private joke', and promises disciplinary action. "It has come to our attention that one of Dead Island's leftover debug files contains a highly inappropriate internal script name of one of the character skills. This has been inexcusably overlooked and released with the game," it said. "The line in question was something a programmer considered a private joke. The skill naturaly [sic] has a completely different in-game name and the script reference was also changed. What is left is a part of an obscure debug function. This is merely an explanation but by no means an excuse. In the end that code was made a part of the product and signed with our company name."We deeply regret that fact and we apologize to all our customers or anyone who might have been offended by that inappropriate expression. The person responsible for this unfortunate situation willrmt professional consequences for violating the professional standards and beliefs Techland stands for."A serious matter or a big hoo-ha over nothing? You decide. But this is the second time in one week the folks behind Dead Island have found themselves apologising on behalf of the zombie shooter, after early purchasers through Steam discovered they were accidentally served a disastrously buggy development version of the game.Facepalm. War of Angels Heaven or Hell

By Bryan King, OnRPG JournalistWar of Angels, developed by NJ Interactive and published by Neowiz, is an MMO fantasy roleplaying game with a unique set of features, including a guild city system, as well as aerial and underwater combat. Players can link up to explore massive scaled dungeons, chat in town, and fight with other players in order to rise to the top.10,000 years ago. Earth faced the greatest danger to its existence. Dertgotz, a fallen angel who once was a celestial god, was expelled because of his greedy, cruel nature. He marched into the human world with his army of evil. Many lives were lost and much of the land was destroyed. Slowly yet surely, the human world was consumed by Dertgotz's inconceivably vast and evil power. The war for survival against Dertgotz continued for many years. A human hero eventually appeared, and grew powerful enough to rival Dertgotz's might with the help of his trusted comrades. After a long and perilous journey, this hero and his comrades were finally able to defeat Dertgotz and his evil soldiers. War of Angels’ character creation isn’t a far stretch beyond anything we’ve seen before. Upon initial creation, characters are able to choose a single class, and then upgrade to a subclass at level 20. As of right now, there are four classes. The Fighter, Rogue, Ranger, and Mage. The Fighter is able to promote to Warrior or Knight, the Rogue is able to choose between Scout or Avenger, the Ranger is able to choose between Hunter and Archer, and the Mage is able to choose between Cleric or Sorcerer. In order to fulfill my fantasies of casting hellish… err… angelic magic bolts from the sky, I rolled with a Mage.WoA doesn’t offer much in terms of customization, with a generic Face, Hair Style, Color, Weapon, and Armor Color selector, along with a size selector. However, the amount of effort that went into the armor and weapon selector is quite impressive and provides a good insight on how a character is going to look at later levels.Although War of Angels mixes the best of Eastern and Western developer clichés in MMOs, it at least produces a tolerable MMO soup. The same basic principles from other MMOs apply: hotbars, targeting, casting and combat are all present and standard. However, the added element of Flight adds a whole new dimension of fun.Flight has become an added plane of gameplay in other games such as Perfect World and Aion, yes, but the fluidity in War of Angels is surprisingly well done, and provides an enjoyable experience throughout the entire game, because wings are available from level one and onwards. Another cool element about War of Angels lies in the Deathblow system, which allows players to gain a reservoir of energy from killing monsters. You are able to fill up to three tiers of this Deathblow energy, with each additional tier providing a greater and flashier killing strike.I found questing in War of Angels to be quite a unique system, as choosing various replies to NPCs can determine your player’s alignment and what faction you join later on in the game. For example, gladly accepting all quests you come across will most likely increase your character’s disposition to “Good”, but if you gladly tell an NPC to “screw off”, your disposition will lower. This will determine what side of the grid your character will fight on inside late-game RvR, as well as your guild’s affiliation. The coolest implementation of this system was being asked by an NPC to deliver a package to another. In most MMOs this would be a boring and pointless gopher mission. But in War of Angels the NPC kept stressing how important it was for me to return the package unopened. Of course, my curiosity got the best of me, and I opened it. Inside was great armor for my level, gold, and potions. However, this did not go unpunished, and my disposition dropped by a lot, leading me towards fighting for the faction of “Evil”. To be honest… I was okay with this. Can anyone say “Hell’s Angels”?In conclusion, War of Angels’ gameplay is simplistic in nature, but every decision you make could shape your future, which provides a whole new level of fun and immersion. Being able to take combat to new planes of air and sea also allows for a whole new level of fun gameplay. There is a guild building system that has a ton of features, as well. Guild leaders are able to establish bases for their members that provide plenty of perks, and although I wasn’t able to test this, the general consensus of the population was that it is a fun toy to fiddle with and has resulted in some great guild “decoration” events run by veteran players. My first impression with War of Angels’ graphics rmta the recent graphics update was the amount of work that went into it. I had a short run in with War of Angels prior to their major update, and at the time took little notice of the game’s bland exterior. However, the new update has definitely provided a benchmark for the future of microtransaction-based F2P games, as the log in screen provided a feeling one gets after seeing that ugly girl from high school turn into a world-renown supermodel. The water effects, character design, and general feel of the game has gotten a complete overhaul, and it’s apparent in the new login screen as well as the game’s environments. I am personally pleased to see the new graphics within the game giving a boost to the game’s general feel and UI, and players who left solely due to the game’s aesthetics should definitely come back and try it to see for themselves. In conclusion, War of Angels is a cut above many somewhat generic F2P games. It has features that are very rare within the genre, and provide players with a strong community aspect in terms of guild base creation. Flight based gameplay and freedom of choice while questing also add to War of Angel’s overall value. The new graphics overhaul is what won me over in the end. For those who are looking for a game similar to AION but aren’t willing to pay, your search may end here.Graphics - 4/5 Gameplay – 3.5/5 Features 3.5/5 Customization 2/5

Fighting game genre won't collapse again

Street Fighter IV producer and Capcom veteran Yoshinori Ono, a key driving force behind the recent resurgence in fighting games, has said he doesn't expect the genre to crash again through over saturation like it did in the 90s. Using the first person shooter genre as an example of a crowded yet continually successful marketplace, Ono said the fighting genre is capable of sustaining its recent momentum."For first person shooters, you have Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal of Honor, and other games," he told Siliconera. "It would be awesome to get fighting games that big. I don't think it will ever get quite that far, but I think it is possible for fighting games to thrive, you can seermt long the FPS genre sustained itself without collapsing, and I think we can do the same this time."The key is not just attracting new fans, but keeping current fans satisfied, keeping them plugged in, and interacting with the community," the Street Fighter x Tekken producer added."We need to make sure the player's voices are heard and they feel cared for. As long as we treat the fans right and cater to them, I think they will stick with us for the long haul. I don't think we will see the bubble burst like the way did in the '90s."These days, the idea of fighting games reaching Call of Duty levels of success seems far-fetched, but in 1991 few games could match the popularity of Street Fighter 2. At its height, the arcade game is rumoured to have caused a 100 yen coin shortage in Japan.

Steps Evolution Online Fingers Do The Tal

 。

 。

 。

 。

Steps Evolution Online is a social game as well and it drmtorsquo;t hurt to mingle around as if you are really in a party. While you are allowed to create a room and lock yourself in it while you practice your killer moves, it would be heaps better to have other people join you. One of the advantages of hosting your own room is that you get to choose the song and the stage for the dance face-off. Playing with others can also lead you to try out the Couples Mode where you partner up with the opposite sex and synchronize your steps, sometimes even doing a combo. Who knows, you might hit it off, virtually get married, and be allowed to have a virtual baby (one that can give you stat bonuses).。

If you keep on missing the bar and you become frustrated with the cursor keys, you can also try out their Rhythm mode where you can play Drums. This is not as complex as Rockband or Guitar Hero games. It simply has four buttons: D/K and F/J for the small orange and blue beats, and D+K and F+J for the big orange and blue beats, respectively. I actually prefer thrmtide because this is really like earning points simply for finger drumming.。

If you think that this is far too easy for your quick fis, then the 8Key mode should be a suitable challenge for you. It makes use of the NumPad for the 4 additional keys: 7 for the upper left arrow, 9 for the upper right, 1 for lower left and 3 for lower right arrows. If the 4Key mode is already a feat to mastered, then the 8Key mode will prove an option used by only an elite few.。

Creating characters is a breeze. There is not much available stuff to choose from: a couple of hairstyles in several shades and a couple of tops, pants or skirts, and shoes. The appearances of your characters are limited to cute, naughty and sexy as well, but the item mall definitely provides a lot of itemsch allow you to make your character unique. Some missions or quests will also yield gifts or rewards that you can use. Quests in this game are not like the typical ones that you get from online RPGs. These are simply missions like finishing a song, achieving a top score, or not having more than 30 misses in a round.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

That is basically how Steps Evolution Online struck mee online game just stuck with the fail-proof formula of rhythm game basics and focused on further embellishing its features. I have to admit that I already had my expectations of this game and thought that it was just going to be one of those generic music games out on the market. Steps Evolution Online pretty much proved me wrong.。

By Mitch Baylosis-Benesa (Syllica), OnRPG Journalist。

In Steps Evolution Online, your life is a y. You have no world to save, no evildoers to be stopped, and definitely no bloodshed. It was honestly a refreshing game to review. I get to play the game and not think about how the virtual world’s apocalyptic fate rests on my poor shoulders. It's just the music, you, and how skilled your fingers are.。

In essence, Steps Evolution Online is a pretty simple game that tests your hand-eye coordination skills with up-beat trendy music as background noise. However, there are also other features in the game that make you feel more in tune with the world, like allowing you to apply for a home where you can grow your own crops and mine materials. These materials that you reap (or buy) can be merged into items that will help boost two other features in the game: your pets and your baby. Getting marr and having a pet or a baby helps boost your stats and raise your popularity.。

 。

One thing I appreciate with Steps Evolution Onlis that they have featured new music from known Asian artists like Wonder Girls, BOA, Utada Hikaru, and Tae Yang (if you couldn’t tell from the screenshots, this is marketed mostly towards Asia), plus popular artists like Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo, Michael Jackson, Sean Kingston and Lady.。

 。

After I tried out Cubinet Interactive's 3D online dancing/rhythm game, Steps Evolution Online, I was completely reminded of how I used to start finger drumming at church to keep myself from nodding off at early Sunday services. It was a nasty habit but it kept me from snoring. The habirmed pretty much like a conditioned response of any human to an upbeat song—either they bop their heads along or do the jiggy while mopping a wet floor. It was an unbidden response, but it was oddly comforting.。

That’s pretty much the game&mdashhing more, nothing else. The graphics are not that notable and more like a schoolgirl’s brand of anime dipped in 3D goodness, but nothing spectacular. It also isn’t as intellectually stimulating as other online games. There is definitely no need to strategize but you really have to trust your fingers to at least be skilled in finger dancing and drumming. Steps Evolution Online still clearly has its own charm that makes it quite addicting and not easy to forget.。

 。

Steps Evolution Online is clearly a step up from old online rhythm games like Audition and HighStreet5 Online. The studios or maps in Steps Evolution are pimped up as some rooms play the original music videos of the artists in the background or have ambient characters cheering you on or playing instruments. The player’s characters also have some good grooves going If the videos or other characters bog your game’s frames per second down, you can easily hide or turn off these features.。

 。

 。

The game has no tutorial sessions because the controls are, in all honesty, idiot proof. The cursor keys—up, down, left, and right--are your primary controls for the 4Key mode. Just press the appropriaeys on the screen before the meter gets to the part where you have to hit the spacebar. If you time it correctly, you can get a Perfect score which gives you higher points. You can choose to start off easy wherein you only have 1 key to press at the beginning until it becomes 8 keys. Normal difficulty kicks off with 6 keys to input and goes up to 12 keys. The song difficulty depends on the bpm or beats per minute so you can have total control of your pacing.。

Early Access Eden Eternal Community Featu

The guild ranking system is also wonderful and brings back one of the few features I truly enjoyed in Warhammer Online. The guild leader can assrmti tiers of privilege to categorize guild members. These tiers are customizable to the extreme, offering you the ability to rename each tier and set custom privileges to each tier. There are at least 15 or so privileges you can assign to each tier from changing the guild tax rate, to inviting new members, to depositing or withdrawing items from the guild bank. In short guild managers will have their hands full with a plethora of nifty dashboards and control panels to create a guild uniquely their own!。

Beyond crafting and material gathering npcs, guild towns carry a great number of useful unlockable features. For instance, guilds can construct different sets of obelisks in their town square, inspiring any member belonging to the faction to greater heights by giving them a buff. Each obelisk offers a different buff so there is some strategy involved in rmt ng your faction what they will make the best use of (or you can just use the prettiest one. I like using the prettiest one).。

 。

 。

 。

By using the world map, players are able to visit the various guild towns of the world. This is useful since you can go to a guild town that has crafting abilities that your guild’s town might nond use their service to advance your crafting ventures. Since crafting has been made to be a vital part of end-game in Eden Eternal, you will find yourself doing this or at least better know someone savvy enough to do it for you. Why do they need to be savvy you say? I’m glad you asked!。

 。

A fun scavenger hunt event available within guild towns is what I deem the 'Crystal Pinata.'  This massive blue crystal can be placed within the guild town, with some insane amounts of health and defense. However, if you guild gets together and beats it down, it explodes with treasure chests that fly out and hide all across the world. These chests contain rare unique items that are worth finding, and your guild wbe the first to know the scavenger hunt has begun!。

 。

Hopefully this remains as is because the Soulmate System really provides some strong benefits to players that are dedicated to each other. Special lover skills (including the often wanted soulmate teleport power) are slowly unlocked the longer you stay together, along with other buffs and even a soulmate heal. You basically won’t want to go adventuring without your soulmas the power increases are just addicting. Of course one major argument and poof, all your hard earned buffs and skills go up in smoke! So take good care of your soulmate or face the consequences.。

Welcome to part 3 of OnRPG’s Edenrnal Preview series! As of today, the countdown to closed beta is only a week away! If you were worried about sneaking your way in to test this game early, you can now set your fears aside. Our lucky viewers will be among the first to get into this closed beta. Stay tuned in the coming week for more information on how to ensure your spot in CB!。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Eden Eternal takes this definition to heart and brings back what made guilds great in the medieval European erhe primary function of the guild is to pool the resources of its members in order to construct a guild town. This town is able to produce 5 crafting structures out of countless options. Thus a guild is able to specialize constructing epic blacksmiths or potion shops that most guilds will not have access to. And at this point, the guild structure does what medieval guilds do best, charge outlandish surcharges to anyone outside of the guild in exchange for their services!。

Another cool feature of the town square is guild leaders are capable of constructing massive monuments in honor of various guild members. These statues actually acquire the character model and fashion from the player they are based on and create an ingame statue of thNothing inspires guildies to greatness like a statue!。

 。

Now in my gaming past, showing your love for another player ingame usually meant one thing. Money money and more money! It is no secret that free-to-play games take full advantage of the need for lovers to express themselves by charging them heavy fees for weddings, special rings, and otherh love focused items, especially in anime styled games like Eden Eternal. Thus it came as a huge surprise to me when I saw that you can initiate dating a soulmate in Eden Eternal without the use of a cash shop item.。

Of course there is one limiting factor to the spread of guilds. While the first 50 guild towns founded will be for the low cost of 500 gold, any guild town after that is planned to be sold at a whopping 10,000 gold. That’s over 9000 gold! Also if a faction becomes inactive, their town will eventually be disbanded. These two factors combined should keep the guild population to a manageable number while providing just enough free ma pressure to avoid crafting monopolies.。

As promised, today we will be going over the two vital social functions that make Eden Eternal stand apart from most games on the market. They are the guilds and the soulmate system. Now if you kmuch about MMORPGs, you are probably looking at this line with a quizzical expression on your face. Hold your judgment! It is not the fact that these systems exist in the game that makes them unique, but the way they are implemented.。

Guild leaders in Eden Eternal can assign a tax rate on their guild town’s crafting hotspots. This rate is tacked on to the cost of using one of your town’s crafting npcs to supply the guild with funds. Although early on in the game’s lifespan, monopolies will exist and players wil forced to endure outlandish tax rates, eventually more and more guilds will be able to provide access to advanced crafting facilities. Once the market is flooded with options, supply and demand is going to take over and savvy shoppers will quickly learn which guilds provide the best services for the lowest price.。

 。

 。

By Darren Henderson (DizzyPW), OnRPG Editor-in-Chief。

 。

 。

Guilds are also useful for storage, in a big way. While each player’s personal inventory size is decent, a maximum upgraded guild ste bank is outlandishly large. Three separate tabs filled with something like 30 slots each (I can’t remember the exact number and was barred from taking screenshots of the guild interface) ensures that you will not be wanting for storage space for your guild’s rare artifacts.。

 。

 。

Last of all, guilds will have plenty of events and activities in which to compete with each other to earn Harry Potter style house points for their faction. Guild ranking systems will help keep track of the most successful factions in these events. Although notilable at launch, Associate Producer Jeff hinted that 40vs40 guild battles were in the works. I can say that will be a glorious sight to behold in this game.。

 。

 。

Another great innovation comes in the freedom of sex involved with picking a soulmate. No longer will you have to force your best buddy to ro female character to gain the benefits of the soulmate system. So long as you don’t mind taking a stroll on the liberal side, two guys or two girls can pair up as soulmates and receive the same buffs! I’m glad Aeria Games and X-Legends have taken the approach that gameplay is greater than society taboos and given its players this freedom of choice.。

The beginning of closed beta is nnly 7 days away! But there is one last article on the horizon I plan to tease you with before you can get your hands on this game. Check out our final part of Early Access: Eden Eternal next Tuesday for a look at reputation, titles, and other tid bits that make Eden Eternal oh so user friendly.。

I think that is enough about love. It’s time to move on to the part organized team gamers are goto be interested in, Guilds.

Project Blackout - Tactically Twitchy

 。

 。

Controls for PB are typical of your standard first-person shooter. There isn’t even a tutorial at the start of the game, but if you’ve played just about any first person shooter title before this one, you’ll know exactly what to do: Use WSAD keys to move, mouse to aim and shoot, R key to reload, number keys to switch weapons, etc. The only slightly unique feature in PB’s control scheme is being able to trigger weapon functions using your MOUSE2 button, which lets you use various features of your weapon such as looking down the iron sights of your rifle, steadying your grip for increased accuracy while gimping your mobility, speeding up your ability to switch between two magazine cases, etc. All firearms seem somewhat accuratrmtetheir real life counterparts.。

 。

 。

That’s right. You know how most multiplayer FPS games have the option for you to pick up someone else’s gun if you’re out of ammo? Well you can’t do it here, unless yormtu for it. The game literally takes features that are common with FPS titles and then sell them back to you… That right there made me pull out the WTF card.。

By Michael Sagoe (mikedot), OnRPG Journalist。

SG Interactive is taking a departure from their usual bright and colorful online games to bring us a gritty and violent look at modern warfare with Project Blackout (PB). Released back in 2010, Project Blackout is a multiplayer online first-person shooter, which contains a mix between tactical and fast pacing. PB looks and plays very similar to many FPS games before it, but is it hiding something to make it worth the download

 。

 。

In terms of cash shop balance, it’s WAY off. There are so many different boosters you can purchase to give yourself hefty advantage over non-paying players, such asck reloading, extra grenades, faster/slower respawning and even (get this…) weapon pick up.。

PB also features the option to change your character’s look with avatar items, but these items are restricted to head items such as face paint, masks and hats, and avatar sets that completely change the look of your player model altogether, and just like the weapons available, none of these can be tweaked.  For such a modern game, it’s pretty disappointing that you’re only given ac to bare bones customization options, and to make things worse, most of the customization is locked away from non-paying players, only being obtainable using points (real currency). The only other bit of customization available to all players would be the mission system and ACT ranks (Advanced Combat Training) that lets you tweak your character in various ways to fit your playing style.。

 。

When starting out, you’re not granted any customization options. Yomply type in your desired player name and go. Once you check into the game’s item shop, you’ll find a hefty amount of different weapons, avatar models and other misc. items to choose from. The weapon selection is incredibly vast, but you can’t tweak or modify your weapons in any way, so if you were thinking about adding a nice little silencer or modified scope to that shiny new assault rifle you just bought, you can sort of forget that… unless, of course, the weapon you just purchased already has the features you were looking for.。

 。

The community of players for Project Blackout seems to be pretty large and active. Lobbies for both the newbie and open channels are usually full during peak hours and there’s enough variety in interest for game types that you won’t have much of a problem find a room for a game type that you’re willing to play. Working with random public players is about as average as online gaming communities can get: Most players keep to themselves and seldom communicate with each other, but you will occasionally get some nice, supportive players here and there, as well as the occasionally trash talker/sore loser/troll.。

 。

The core gameplay found in PB contains almost nothing out of the ordinary: Game modes available contain your standard matches including Team Deathmatch, Bomb Run, Elimination, etc. Nothing special or amazing regarding these modes since you can find them in just about every other multiplayer FPS gamt there, but you can also play these modes with special conditions such as Sniper Rifle or Shotguns only. This adds a nice change of pace, but gets old quickly. There is one mode that I did manage to have a blast with, and that would be their recently added Dino Escape mode, where dinosaurs (controlled by live players) have to stop human players from escaping a Jurassic Park-Esque landscape, complete with a big ‘ol T-Rex.。

 。

Battling out in PB also feels average at best: Run, shoot, stab, crouch and throw a grenade or two while cooperating with your teammates. No matter how much better or worse your weapon is compared to your enemy’s, one or two well-placed shots to the head can pretty much do you in, and with all the different weapons available, PB has a stranalance between luck and skill.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Overall, Project Blackout is a functional online multiplayer FPS title base on modern warfare and that’s about it. There’s nothing much herat sets it apart from the competition and has some wonky balance issues on the side. Give it a go if you need a quick fix, but there are far better alternatives out there.。

 。

The visuals of PB are simply not up to snuff in comparison to other modern shooters out there. They may look nice from a distance, but taking a closer look will reveal dank and blurry textures all over the place. Shadow effects, light reflections and all other efs simply look plain and dated. The only decent part with PB’s visuals comes from the wacky action ragdoll that makes dead bodies flail like crazy. As an added touch, every time you get killed in battle, there’s a deathcam attached to the head of your character, so you can watch every moment of your flailing dead body in glorious first person view, which adds a bit of shits-and-giggles value.。

No PS4, Xbox 720 before 2014, says Skyrim

Next-generation consoles won't arrive in 2012 "or the year after", reckons Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim director Todd Howard. When asked by PSM3 magazine how long he thinks we'll have to wait for successors to PS3 and Xbox 360, Howard said he thinks "consumers are happy" with current hardware."I think it's going to be a while still, I really do. I think consumers are happy with the current ones, there's a lot you can do with them," he said. "So I don't think it's coming next year or the year after."Quizzed on earlier comments that Bethesda was considering waiting until the next PlayStation and Xbox hardware to release Skyrim, Howard said that conversations over moving the title to next-gen consoles were "very serious"."We want [Skyrim] to be fresh. We don't want it to feel, visually or technically, 'Oh this is Fallout 3' or 'this is Oblivion' And if we couldn't do that we would have waited," he said.2K global president Christoph Hartmann recently claimrmtecrosoft and Sony are already "experimenting" with Kinect and Move for what could be the foundations of their next-generation console plans.Hardware giant AMD piped up last month to claim the next Xbox will feature graphics on a par with James Cameron's Avatar.Buy the new look PSM3 online and have it delivered to your door. Dragon Age 3 will 'surprise and delight,'

The next instalment in the Dragon Age franchise will "surprise and delight" both fans of the original game and its more accessible sequel, BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka has said. Speaking to CVG in a just-published BioWare video interview, Muzyka said future instalments in the RPG series will try to present a "best of breed" marriage of both Origins' and Dragon Age II's gameplay styles."I think the team has actually got a great plan," the BioWare boss said of the future of the series, adrmtdthe disclaimer: "we've not announced Dragon Age 3 formally or anything."He continued: "I think the team are going to have some things that will surprise and delight both set of fans - our core fans and our new fans - with a marriage, best of breed from both games, Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II. We'll look forward to talking more about that."On critics of Dragon Age II's more accessible approach, Muzyka stressed his studio takes fan feedback very seriously and will be looking at the thoughts of both those for and against the last game in the series."One of our core values at BioWare is humility and that means we take feedback really seriously," he said. "We know that the core fans who were expecting more Dragon Age: Origins [from the sequel] - we have to listen to them. We have to respond to that."We're not going to ignore it. We're going to take that head-on. But we also have an obligation to our new fans, the ones who we surprised and delighted with some new approaches, accessibility and intense action combat."What we need to do as a developer is take the feedback from both sets of fans to heart and see about marrying that in the future games in the Dragon Age franchise."Hear Dr. Ray's full thoughts in our BioWare video interview. City of Heroes Meta's Verse Issue 19 Alph

 。

 。

 。

Meta's Verse is written by Meticulous Meta who lives in Atlas Park with her dog Snuflé.。

 。

 。

With the next game update, Issue 19 due pretty much any day now, its on everyone's mind. Maybe you're excited about the Fitness pool becoming inherent, or maybe it's the alpha slot you're most eager to see. Personalrmtlcan't wait for those smaller, quality of life things. The little things no ones going to notice for a week or two while they're busy squeeing over the new task forces and completely redoing their build to accommodate the three powers you'll be free to take once you respec into inherent fitness.。

Don't panic! They aren't making Praetoria harder or easier. It will be completely left up to you. Just like the Hero Corp officers in Paragon and the Fateweavers in the Rogue Isles there will be a contact in Praetoria you will be able to talk to change the difficulty of missionrmtsPraetoria. This is a feature many players were screaming for almost the moment Praetoria was released. To this day playing in Praetoria has meant finding a fragile balance between getting on a team big enough to survive and not outleveling the content. More often than not if you wanted to see all the content you would have to turn off XP from time to time. Now smaller teams won't struggle, unless they want to. Seeing the content will be easier, debt badges will be harder to get and the people will rejoice.。

City of Heroes Meta's Verse: Issue 19 Alpha Strike

A complaint I have always had about switching characters is having to log out, type your password in again, select the server you want and finally get to your character selection page. Well, with e 19 you'll have a few less steps. Finally, the option to skip a couple of steps and go straight to your character selection page! Sure, you can still log out all the way if you want to. You can still shut the game down straight from there. But now comes a third option, log out to character selection. This I think will be the biggest little detail in Issue 19. Everyone who plays will notice the change and fully embrace it. Ask anyone, they will tell you this has been needed and wanted for a long, long time.。

Getting across the city of heroes and city of villains gets even easier. In Paragon city the train lines will be extended, connecting all stations to each other. No more crossing Steel Canyon or Skyway City to get from the lowbie zones to the higher content zones. The black helicopters in the Isles are also seeing a merge. Maybe its an effort by Lord Recluse to save money by using fewer helicopters which make more stops, maybe Recluse has realized travel in the isles is difficult at best. Who really can get in the mind of an evil genius? Either way we win. Travel by helicopter will become easier, and who knows maybe it will be more popular than the ferries? Well actually, I really doubt it will because even the ferries are getting extended. Noe going to the wrong ferry in Cap Au Diable when you want to get to Port Oakes. I do this more than I care to admit. But now travel in our two cities will be easier. Add this in with the mission teleporter, the base teleporter and the consignment house teleporters and you have to start asking yourself if taking a travel power is even worth it.。

Every zone gets a hospital. It started with The Hollows just off Atlas Park. Now every zone is getting a hospital. Maybe this will mean the hazard and trial zones will get more love? Instead of having to travel from another zone when you you'll stay in the zone you died in. Might this make Dark Astoria a more popular destination? One thing is for sure it will help with Hamidon raids. With a cap of 50 players in the zone at once if you die you either wait for someone to help you up or you take the risk of going to the hospital and most likely not being able to get back in. Hopefully this will encourage even more Hamidon raids. In addition to every zone getting a hospital they'll be getting a new nurse as well. This nurse will sell tier one inspirations to you for 50 inf and Awakens for 150 inf. This is of course the standard price they currently are sold for from contacts and in the arenas. So no discount, but you also won't have to travel who knows how far to pick them up.。

Hello and welcome to OnRPG's new weekly column Meta'rse all about City of Heroes. I will be covering topics ranging from the latest game related news to player run events. Anything and everything related to the City of franchise that catches my eye will be talked about. Christmas may be on its way but only one thing is on the mind of the player base, Issue 19: Alpha Strike.。

This really is one of those small things that I love about Issue 19. Anyone in any global channel has seen this scenario at least once. A player, new or old asks what zone they should go to for teams in a certain level range. I've played long enough to get Addicted, the thirty-six h veteran badge (that's 3 years for anyone who doesn't want to do the math) and I still have to ask from time to time. Now anytime you use the trains, helicopters, ferries or leave Ouroboros when the list of zones comes up for you to select from, you'll get the level range right next to the zone name.. Now I won't have to look silly asking people who have been in the game half the time I have which zone to go to for a level 35 team.。

So there you have it. My run down of the little things to come in Issue 19. This won't be the last you hear about Issue 19: Alpha Strike, ry it is only the beginning.。

DDO - Module 8 Prisoners of Prophecy inte

by Vincent Haoson, Onrpg writer
Person interviewed: Kate Paiz, Sr. Producer

With the release of the newest module of Dungeons & Dragons Online: Strmtoach. Old and new players would get a whole new experience from the various changes within the DDO universe.

We here on Onrpg got the chance to talk to Kate Paiz, senior producer of DDO to get the scoop with wrmths up in the latest update of the game.

Onrpg: What would players of DDO expect from Module 8: Prisoners of Prophecy?

Kate Paiz: Module 8: Prisoners of Prophecy brings four new features to players. The first is a new Character Generation, where players will now have a much more guided experience in selecting their initial skills and abilities for their character. This guided experience will last throughout the character’s lifecycle, if the player chooses to keep their character on of the three defined paths available to that class.

We also created a new tutorial and new player experience for Module 8. Players will now start shipwrecked on a beach , after their ship to Stormreach was attacked by a white dragon. Players must help the villagef Korthos Island repel the invasion of Sahuagin marauders and the arctic frost brought by the white dragon to complete the adventure series and catch a new ship to Stormreach.

For high level players, we also have a new Level 17 content module, the Reaver’s Reach. Players must join forces with their old adversary the Stormreaver to prevent a newly undead Sor’jek from creating an army of undead dragons. Four high level dungeons and landscapes give the player an opportunity to travel to frozen reaches, an ancient forest, a tainjungle, and a volcanic area filled with paragon kobolds.

Last, but certainly not least, we are introducing the Hirelings system. Hirelings are NPCs that can be hired to join a player’s party and who fight by their side in a very similar manner to other players. Hirelings can die and be resurrected, have appropriate abilities per their class, and can be controlled by the playerough a UI bar.

Onrpg: The biggest upgrade the Prisoners of Prophecy introduced would be the Hireling system, how would this new feature help tDO experience?

Kate Paiz: Hirelings are NPC combatants that can be hired in game at special vendors. Each contract lasts for 1 hour, and a summoned hireling will stay with the player until they exit the adventure they are playing. Hirelings will not abandon a player if their contract time runs out, but will only leave the party after their contract expires and they are in a public instance. Each player is permitted to bring one Hireling with them into an adventure, which will really help small parties and solo players take down difficult challenges. In Module 8, players be able to hire the following classes: Clerics, Paladins, Barbarians, Fighters, and maybe Wizards and Sorcerers. Players can control what their hirelings do through a Pet Bar, and each hireling has its own personality, which may result in them taking initiative from time to time.

Onrpg: How will the hirelings affect the party system in DDO?

Kate Paiz: Hirelings will help players who do not already have a full party available to play. We expect pick-up groups to still be popular, but groups will no longer need to wait on a cleric - instead, they can just hire one. It will also enable pls who login and find that none of their friends or guildmates are on to hire a friend and play through less challenging adventures in a small party.

Onrpg: The character creation and customizn feature also altered in Module 8, what was the reason behind the change?

Kate Paiz: We have gotten a lot of feedback that our previous character generation was great for people who were familiar with the D&D 3.5 rulesset, but was harder to navigate for those who were MMO players unfamiliar with D&D or 1st or 2nd Edition D&D players. We wanted to find a new way of creating character that would appeal to all of our play while still allowing the deep customization that many players love.

Onrpg: What storyline updates will we see this time around?

Kate Paiz: We’re continuing two storylines from previous modules.dule 4, the Reaver’s Bane, introduced the Stormreaver as a Raid Boss that players were trying to defeat to prevent him from setting off a cataclysmic explosion. In that module, the Dragons of Argonessen were reacting to an ancient prophecy that foretold of the Truthful One’s plans for the destruction of Xen’drik.

The giant Sor’jek was also a Raid boss in the Raid at launch, Tempest Spine, and has been reborn as an undead Lich by the truthful one since the Stormreaver has switched sides to join with the Argonessen Dragons. Sor’jek is very angry at having been killed by the players once, is eager for his revenge.

Onrpg: How will the new storyline in Prisoners of Prophecy connect with the pre-existing storyline Module 7: The Way of the Monk?

Kate Paiz: It doesn’t. Module 7 picked up with Module 6 storyline of the invasion og Xen’drik by the Devils of Shavarath. Module 9 will return to that storyline, but we felt after two modules and three raids that players could use a break from Devils for a time. Module 9 will take the players to Shavarath and allow them to fight the Ds on their own turf, and work with the other denizens of the Plane of Battle, the Archons and Demons, against the common foe.

Onrpg: What was the overall support you get from players when you released Prisoners of Prophecy?

Kate Paiz: Great. Players really like the new character generation and starting adventure area, and the live events that we have been running to introduce the Hireling system and get feedback from players have gone really well. The Stormreaver casts one of his icospells on players in his hideaway, and players have been having a great time flying around the public zone and practicing their acrobatics.

Onrpg: Is there a possibility that players will get to see another event unfolding in DDO like the one that happened in the marketplace prior the explosion?

Kate Paiz: Absolutely, but we have no plans to announce at this time. We loved making the Market Tent event, and player reaction was soat. We are working on new storylines that will enable us to more of those sorts of things in the future, and players will hear more about as those come to fruition.

Onrpg: Can you tell the players what’s in store for DDO in module 9?

Kate Paiz: Modulwill open up Sharavarath, the Plane of Battle, to players. They can travel there, with the help of some friendly Yugoloths, and work with the Archons and the Demons to end the aggression of the Devils against Xen’drik. The devils have obtained an advantage in their eternal war with the Archons and Demons, and the other factions are eager to restore the balance. Module 9 will also increase the level cap to level 20, which will enable players to take the last four levels of the core D&D level set. New spells, like Mordenkainen’s Disjunction, and new abilities will be available.

Practical MMO and Gaming Traits Part 2

 。

 。

Games have opened up their eyes to different possibilities on what the future may bring, whether it's a steam punk city, or a regular zombie apocalypse. While some individuals think about flying cars and the typical Jetsons scenario, we already deem them as passe'. I mean, what is with the Robot maid? Our Robot Kafras look better, yes? rmtSval skills are also another thing that gamers naturally posses. If you think we are wasting our time playing these games that don't contribute to our knowledge, then you should definitely see how we deal with bears.。

 。

When playing an MMO, especially at the peak of its challenge, players know that one death may be the death of many, especiarmtlhen it's the healer. Here's the drama: The real world as I see it is much like a typical raid (okay that's indeed geeky, but who cares?). We have the Tank, who takes the damage; the DPS, who deals damage behind the tank; and the Healer, who heals everyone from the back.。

While other people would deem it as unorthodox and out-of-this-world, gamers are used to dealing with things in a creative manner, and woulen stick their neck on the line for something that is completely incomprehensible for the average Joe. Just be warned, while most gamers are creative, only a few tend to be logical.。

 。

The world of gaming is quite broad in terms of storyline, sy, and puzzles. Some puzzles also demand a rather creative way of solving and can only be solved by someone who thinks at least three steps ahead. Gamers in general are always known to have different and creative ways of solving problems outside the box.。

One thing about being an MMO gamer is that they must socialize in order to get anywhere in the MMO world. Though some are not aware of it (shut-ins), they are actually capable of talking and conversing well with various individuals. Regardless of race, background, and personality, gamers can communicate extremely well. There are definitely no social barriers for an MMO gamer, and if there are, they are more likely related to hygiene issues instead of social skills.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Another day is upon us another list must be completed. Here is the rest of my list of traits that give us gamers an advantage in the real world.。

 。

And There you have it. Yes, gaming has become a staple part of our culture, and even though some people still think that we are wasting our time on the couch eating chips and fighting bosses, I would say that it is most definitely the opposite. We are gamers, and there's no way in hell that I would want it any r way.。

 。

 。

Let's face it, gamers are future-oriented. We know how to plan out agendas in order to get what we want. Gamers know how to scan a large amount of information and quickly find what is lacking character's build and then set out to improve themselves. This talent makes them quite useful in the workforce as they can often find security loopholes or improve company efficiency before any real problems arise.。

Recently a 12 year old Norwegian boy saved his sister from a moose attack. In the heat of the moment, all he d recall was his endless hours of video game training. The kid actually taunted the 'monster' and then 'feigned death' once the moose was successfully ‘agroed.' Mad skills, I tell you.。

 。

In online gaming, the battle for the future of the world never ends. MMO players should know this first hand. Even after bringing down bosses such as Arthas, they know that their journey is far from over, and will continue to strengthen themselves continuously to prepare for the next battle. These are the type of people who will never be satisfied with the status-quo and allow stagnation to take place. So long as you can equate success to a puzzle or gaming challenge, a gamer's mind won't allow them to rest l solutions are found.。

 。

 。

 。

by Kei Beneza (Dividelife), OnRPG Journalist。

 。

After years of gaming, most MMORPG players also gain quite a bit of tech knowledge. From solving virus issues to purchasing correct parts to upgrade their PCs, these people are forced to take a minor in technology. Try arguing the same about someone who spent their high school days engrossed in football. Yea the odds of finding a tech savvy person in this crowd drop significantly.。

 。

Once a player is in trouble or is about to get squashed to bits by some monster (can be related to whatever troubles you have in real life), the tank comes up and takes the damage, allowing the player to recover before letting him fight again. In a way, we are all tanks, DPSes, and healers in society, and the death of one may very well be the death of many. MMO players are literally capable of picking comrades up from the ground aftheir worst mistakes. Though watch out for us PvP types, we usually will trash talk you for it after you recover!

League of Legends You Don't Stand a Ghost

atch v1.0.0.113, Nocturne, Pacing Reworks, Sona Buffs, Banshee's Nerfs。

Nocturne is a guided missile powered by sheer terror, and propelled by the screams of his enemies. It makes a good, though fragile, jungler, while also being an exceptional assassin and chaser. Its backdooring capabilities are also nothing to be sniffed at. If you're familiar with other rapid striking assassins like Akali, or champions familiar with taking advantage of the stupidity of others, like rmtEn or Twisted Fate, then you should feel fairly at home with Nocturne.。

Its core items are Tier Two Boots (Mercury Treads or Berzerker's Greaves), Wriggle's rmtLrn, Youmuu's Ghostblade and Banshee's Veil. Late pick, or situational, items on him include Infinity Edge, Bloodthirster, Black Cleaver, Guardian Angel or even Sword of the Occult if you're really in the mood for some risk taking.。

Greetings fellow summoners! This is the patch v1.0.0.113 article for League of Legends, the game in which your nightmares come to life. This patch includes some adjustments made from the previous patch, some Sona reworks, a less effective Banshee's Veil and Nocturne, The EterNightmare.。

If it's been forced into a lane, solo or duo, he's best served harassing the enemy heavily with Duskbringer while trying to have his own lane be pushed back to present a gank opportunity when he eventually gets access to Paranoia. ware that an assassin, you should keep your eye out for anyone overextended in an adjacent lane, as an early kill for Nocturne is nearly essential to get his deadly snowball rolling. Take a rank in Duskbringer at level 1, Shroud of Darkness at 2, and Unspeakable Horror at 4. Your priority order should be Paranoia > Duskbringer > Unspeakable Horror > Shroud of Darkness.。

If you have Attack Speed runes and intend to jun picking up a vampiric sceptre is your best choice. If you don't have these though, then you're better off with the usual cloth and health potion combination.。

I'd love to give more feedback on the overall changes this patch, but they are mostly refinements (or backtracking) on changes made last patch. Minion and respchanges will hopefully shorten play time again. Banshee's Veil got a significant nerf, which is a boon to casting in the last。

I've been sticking pretty heavily to a 16/0/14 build on it, though others seem wear by a straight 21/0/9 build. Your focus should be on experience gain, neutral buffs, physical damage, attack speed and movespeed (if you're going more utility heavy).。

When jungling, and he should jungle unless there is someone better at it on his team (eg. Warwick), Duskbringer is still his best choice, due to the added attack damage he gets while standing the shadowy trail left by the ability. Some people will argue that its Shroud of Darkness is a better pick to get at level 1, due to the passive increase in attack speed. These people are really, thoroughly wrong, and this choice not only increases the likelihood of Nocturne getting killed, whether by enemies, or creeps. If you're low level, or don't have the rufor it, I would think twice before jungling with him, as he is very fragile when jungling, and his Runes or Masteries being slightly off can really screw him over.。

A listing of Nocturne's stats and abilities can be found in detail here. For an introduction to the character and how it plays, I would recommchecking out the Champion Spotlight.。

To discuss some of the changes yourselves, visit the League of Legends section of our forums, or post in the massive League of Legends thread in the free to plMOs section. If you haven't tried League of Legends yet. Now is the perfect time. 。

For runes, you want damage, and just enough survivability to aide Nocturne in the early game. Armour Penetration Marks, Armour Seals, Attack Speed Glyphs and Armour Penetration / Attack Speed Quintessences. If you don't have that specific load out, then your general rule of thumb should be Damage Marks, Defensive Seals, Da Glyphs, and really any Quintessence.。

If the enemy are too far off from when you enter r vision (usually when not able to use some brush) you'll have to make use of Duskbringer before Unspeakable Horror in order to close the gap. This is a bit more risky though, because if you miss the Duskbringer your gank is almost certain to fail. If someone is on very low health, you know them to be super squishy, or you have some allies able to assist the gank then pop the ultimate first in order to mask the kill and cause confusion in the enemy team. Do this only if you are absolutely certain of the kill though。

It seems I underestimated the server changes last patch, as they look to have paved the way for the new Co-op versus AI mode that was made available last w The bots are surprisingly smart, though still little more than a speed bump to a half competent team. Still, they're a good way to relax while trying out silly gimmick builds (ah, AP Yi, how I missed you).。

game. Sona got buffd her passive was reworked, so she can go back to being the god-tier support in the game once more.。

Nocturne's skill use is highly dependant on positioning, and enemy life. If you can approach someone unseen, but the enemy has plenty of health (and isn't too squishy) it is best to simply run at them and make use of Unspeakable Horror [E]. Keep nehem using Shroud of Darkness [W] to gain some attack speed after your victim panics and attempts to hit you with any crowd control they can dish out. Now that you're an attack spamming dervish of death, you line up a shot of Duskbringer [Q] to do some damage, move faster and hit harder. Finish with Paranoia [R] before making your escape, using the obscured vision to hide the kill, and where you creep off afterwards.。

Nocturne is going to be the new pub-stomper extraordinaire, since a good deal of his game plan is screwing with team co-ordination and capitalizing on stupidity. He's an incredibly strong character, and his ultimate can really screw with teams if used effectively. That said, he needs some early game kills to get rolling effectively, or have a near perfect jungle run without interruptfrom the enemy team. This means that while in the late game he is a devastating engine of death, it can sometime be a very rough journey to that end game in competitive matches.。

A few important note on the use of his ultimate. At its most base use, it's an extremely long rang dash (further than a screen, longer than Lux or Caitlyn's ultimates) that can cover your kills as you finish enemies. It looks very tempting to use it to kick off fights, but it really is a poor way to start, since you will be visible after the kill is made, making escaping difficult, and also will make securing the kill more difficult once you begin chasing the enemy. It also is a great way to leap between targets in a team fight, so remember not to waste it right at the start. If you're re needing it to kick off fights, you're likely not positioning yourself correctly, or trying to assist a kill over a screen away. It can also be used in the late game to mask you backdooring a turret on mid to low health, avoiding the counterattack that usually comes with such actions.。

Tibia Review 14 Years and Counting

Tibia is a top-down two-dimensional game employing a point and click control method. Maps are basically textured grids, with your character moving from one square at a time in one of four directions (up, down, left and right). The visuals aren't particularly pleasing to the eye, nor have they improved much over the years, but that isn't what Tibia seems to be going for. The game mimics the classic fantasy RPGs that graced consoles rmtlthe NES in both gameplay and visual presentation, making for an experience that is profoundly retro. Whilst some may enjoy such a throwback to a bygone era, playing Tibia can be a frustrating experience for those accustom to the fluid 3D worlds commonplace in today's MMOs.。

It's common for MMO fans to mute their game whilst playing, opting to provide their own soundtrack to accompany their daily grind. With Tibia, you have no choice. The game is completely devoid of audio. I originally thought this was just omitted in the beta, but no. There is no music and zero sound effects - the worrmtl Tibia is silent.。

 。

Combat in Tibia is very reminiscent of that in EVE Online (or should that be vice versa?). The user interface consists of several panels, each containing actions and information about the game. One such panel is populated with the names of enemies in the surrounding area. Clicking on a name initiates combat. It's a simple solution that deals with Tibia's horrible navigation, bringing at least some flexibility to combat. Of course fights can still be started by clicking on actual entities in the world, and a handy auto-follow feature means you won't be desperately clicking squares to chase after opponents. There are three different fighting styles available, each giving a bonus to a particulombat skill - these can be switched on the fly.。

 。

1997 an exciting year for video gaming. We saw the birth of Diablo, Grand Theft Auto and Age of Empires. The original Sony PlayStation and Nintendo 64 home consoles dominated the gaming spectrum, and MMORPGs were reserved for backroom geeks and their Pentium Pro computers. It would take another two years for the fabled EverQuest to hit shelves, and Warcraft was still just a real-time strategy game. Yet, the foundation for what would become a multi-million dollar industry and worldwide phenomenon had been firmly laid. Tibia is one of the oldest MMORPGs in existence, and over fourteen years since its launch players are still populating its servers. I'm going to find out why.。

And fluidity is what Tibia is sorely lacking. Clicks, at least in the beta browser version, don't always register and performing the most trivial of tasks can be a nightmare as the game patiently decides whether or not to let you climladder. Positioning seems to be everything, and with a ridiculously limited set of movement options it can take multiple clicks to make your character pick up items or perform abilities.。

 。

CipSoft GmbH is currently in the process of translating Tibia's desktop application into a Flash-based browser game. I am playing the clie closed-beta.。

Nostalgia only takes the game so far, it's clear that anyone who commits to Tibia needs to have an abundancepatience. Travelling is slow at the beginning, and progress takes time and effort. The majority of Tibia is controlled with the mouse, with actions assigned to a right-click menu which crops up when interfacing with objects in Tibia's large world. Abilities and items can be assigned to the action bars positioned around the game screen.。

The game takes a novel approach to interacting with non-player characters, too. Instead of skim-reading through quest logs and collecting apping list of tasks, you are encouraged to actually have a conversation with the non-player characters that litter the world. They can be greeted by saying "hello", and the conversation progresses through a series of keywords. Whilst you can't slaughter them, there are several different server options available each offering a different PvP experience. Similar to classic RuneScape, Open PvP worlds will label player killers with a cross to signify their murderous ways, and Hardcore PvP offers a free-for-all kill fest.。

Tibia has never been considered the finest MMO in the world, and it does have its flaws and frustrations. Fourteen years is an extremely long time in video gaming, and it's fair to say that Tibia hasn't moved with the times. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. The community has remained loyal and appreciate what Tibia has achieved during its tenure. The fact the servers are still running is a true testament to its popularitd addictiveness. It's a simple, easy to grasp MMO with a formula that has become tried and tested over the years. It's not for everyone, but those looking for slice of classic role-playing gaming then Tibia might just be what you are looking for.。

The game prides itself on being free to play, and for the most part it is. To help with funding players are encouraged to upgrade their account to Premium, offering more areas to explore and more items to collect. The Housing feature is also available to Premium members, giving players the chato rent houses which can be furnished and visited by other members of the population.。

Upon logging in for the first time, a series of tutorial missions and quests introduce you to the historic sprite-filled world. It's not until level eight you are given the option of choosing a class, of which there are four available - Druid, Sorcerer, Knight and Paladin. Like the majority of other MMOs, gaining experience and levelling up is the main objective in Tibia. In addition to an overall level, there are a number of individual skills that can be mastered depending on what weapon you wield and action you perform. Fighting with fists, swords and axes all build up its own relevant skill, whilst additional vities like fishing can also be performed.
