ACE Online Interview Bigger and Badder in

OnRPG: Thank you for your time!
Glad to be of service!。

OnrmtRWith the game strictly restricted to piloting ships and travelling in space how have you guys been keeping the players interested?
Well most of the time you're flying around and shooting down what's in your way but on the other side of the coin you can spend much of your time in townrmt just socializing with friends and allies online. Also another key factor to keeping the interest was all the crazy events we're running. Events with new items, events with the GM Team, events through the forum and website, there are now many new ways to experience the game.。

Fighting Dragons

 。

 。

Combat in ACE Online

 。

OnRPG: Where do you get the ideas for the weapons anmor upgrades you provide players in Ace Online?
Sometimes we dig up the game's history and use ideas from e. Other times we try to research how best to relate various aspects of the game with mythology. For event items, we just go crazy with the actual feel and nature of the holiday the event takes place and just run away with the idea. Like Christmas tree missiles.。

OnRPG: here any possibility that you will be including a new gear type in the future? Why or why not?
We believe that 4 Gears is the magic number. Adding a 5thGear would make people question on its specialty and may end up causing a bigger problem to integrate. The 4 gears seem to cover all possible fs in the game sufficiently.。

ACE Online Interview: Bigger and Badder in 2010
Questions by Vincent Haoson (Vincenthaoson), OnRPG Journalist
Answered by [GM] EchoSaviour。

OnRPG: Can't the boss mobs in ACE online get any br than they are? Will you be adding bigger, badder monsters in the succeeding patches?
New bosses will be coming in the Episode 3.3 introduction of the "Infinity Field". They are of a whole new breed of bosses that are far more deadly and capathan the previous. These new bosses are bigger, badder, and are capable of doing things that bosses before were unable to do. It is a challenge to beginners and veterans alike and move definitely will require teamwork.。

 。

OnRPG: Are there any new major patches coming up for Ace Online? Why?
The upcoming Episode 3.3 patch would bring MASSIVE changes to the game over the course of the year. Plenty of new content and feat are coming. Some of the content will breathe new life into the game as it opens up the endgame for the players. Actually we just launched a new patch for beginner players so basically it's now a lot easier to reach that endgame now.。

 。

 。

 。

Energy Beams

 。

Ace Online is a long time running space ship themed MMO from Subagames. The biggest up coming from this game was the release of its third episode, War of Pandea. Now with the first quarter of the year nearing its end we get to talk to the guys at Subagames again and ask what's up with Ace Online.。

Kreasia Holy Ground

 。

 。

OnRPG: Are there any updates you'd like to share to us aside from the patch update for march?
There are a lot of changes coming for the game in 2010. Many of which I cannot tell at this time due to lack of imation but I can say that the "Infinity Field" addition to the game will introduce many new aspects that will offer players more versatility in customization of their characters. There are still lots more to come and we want everyone to try it out when the new stuff comes.。

 。

OnRPG: Has there been an increase in player participation in the nation wars? Why do yhink there's been more/less participation of players in these wars?
There have been many changes to the game since its release into Episode 3. One of these was a complete overhaul of the existing natiar system. Although the smaller scale fights don't occur as much, the larger scale fights have become far bigger. It's a virtual light show when you start fighting in these large battles, of course you have to see to believe.。

OnRPG: There have been a lot of GM shifts during the game's course, how has the company been handling thosanges?
Although there were many shifts, the absolute core GM Team has not changed and so much he knowledge and experience was kept so it can be handed down to the newer staff.。

 。

OnRPG: What's the most populated map in terms of PVE for players? Why do you think so?
For the high level players, It would be a map called "Barren Lands". Although it's a neutral map and players from bottions can go there it is generally a map loved by all. Excellent drop and exp rates in that map allow the high level players to further perfect their characters.。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Iere any possibility that you will include another faction aside from the Bygeniou and Arlington? Why or why not?
Although story-wise there are other factioit is highly doubtful that another faction will appear. It would probably require a significant overhaul of the game overall.。

 。

OnRPG: What are the things you are looking into adding into the game for 2010?
The upcoming Episode 3.3 patch will introduce the first stage of a raid instance system called the "Infinity Field". There are multiple stages that will be added over the course of the year, and each one will have their own unique identity. The first one, the "Kreasia Holy Lans pretty much a preview of what's to come. It's jet fighters versus dragons, so you can get the idea of how epic this content is.。

 。

OnRPG: Where do you base the updates you include in the patches?
Much of the ideas for patches are a collaboration of ideas from the various hosts of the ganternationally. Since this game has an international audience, there is something for everyone as ideas come from different nations all over the world.。

OnRPG: Among the four types (B-gear, A-gear, I-gear and M-gear) which is the most preferred ship used by players? Why do yoink so?
The overwhelming majority of players like the B-Gear for its versatility and overwhelming bombing capabilities. However he end a good player can still out-fly a bad one. If one takes the time to polish and hone their actual flying skills then you can become king of the skies regardless of your gear.。

 。

OnRPG: Tatest major update for the game is Ace Online's Episode 3, War of Pandea. Will you be releasing episode 4 anytime soon?
Episode 4 is still in the very early stages. I do not have any ination on it as the developers at Masangsoft are still working on the planning. Of course we're not even done with Episode 3 yet so there's still plenty of ACE Online for everyone until Ep4.。

 。

OnRPG: It's been three months since the start of the year how has the game been doing so fa 2010?
It has been a year to remember so far, lots of improvements in many areas of the game. More events, more interaction with the GM's, and a lot more ways for a player to get from free stuff too! Basically we started the year with a bang and it hasn't le yet.

Evony Review I Think I've Seen This Game

One thing about this game is its funny grammar. I really can't specify how many grammatical errors I've spotted during my game time. God please don't let this beautiful game end up like Zero Wing "ALLYOURBASEAREBELONGTrmtO。

 。

Browser games are currently what turns non gamers into mind numbed zombies who will do their best to sneak a few minutes from work just to check on their online characters. Browser games are more or less work safe. They don't crash your computer, they don't rmtllike games, and most of all they're easily closed (haha! I win Mr. Supervisor dude!). The best part about browser game is that they're system friendly. You don't really need to upgrade your PC 3 times a year to play these babies.。

 。

The good:
- Awesome visuals
- Quests
- Micro Transactions
- Big community。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

If you're familiar with games like Farmville, you know whats like to wait for something to grow, or in this case build. Some structures in the game takes days to build. Think of it as though you're really in charge of a virtual world that builds itself in real time. Units are trained the same way as well, making it a bit realistic but dull with waiting. I'm not really that much of a waiter so this part of the game didn't appeal to me that much; however, the waiting time builds your suspense, hoping you don't get attacked before your walls are built. It's a very awesome factor. Fast paced games > slow ones? Guess not. I'm not sure if you're willing to invest that much time on a browser game, but they sure are good when you're dead bored at work.。

Although the game has certain balance issues like the overpowered archers, combat can still be considered as good in Evony. You can pick from an array of soldiers, dressihem up and gearing them up to further compliment their efficiency in battle. You can also team up with other players or join an alliance to give you the upper hand. There are various ways to insure victory in this game, either by tier whoring or by simply ganging up on multiple targets.。

 。

Imbalanced Advantages

Yeah, just he header suggests, everything that's acquired with real money can really boost your advantage over players who play for free. It's a cheap trick being pulled by most of the games that dub themselves free to play. I've tried tons of subscription methods for various MMOs from browser games to application ones. Although they aren't required for you to fully enjoy the game, they do provide an imbalanced advantage over other players. This really destroys the whole point of the words FREE TO PLAY... well, they didn't say FREE TO ENJOY or FREE TO TIERWHORE so I guess they're safe.。

The bad:
- Bad grammar
- Connection fails most of the time (even for some DSLs)
- Micro Transactions (tier whoring)
- It stays away from the plot。

 。

Building in Evony

 。

Formerly called Civony, Evony is a Massively Multiplayer Online ) Web browser game that shines for its strategic features. It's not really a hard game per se, but the dynamics are so enthralling, you'd think you're actually playing an application game.。

 。

Building a Town

The graphics are flawless and look a lot different when compared to other browser games. Everything is properlydered, with a diverse set of buildings that are easy on the eyes. I guess browser games have taken their visuals to the next level. The elements work well together, creating harmony between the elements. Other games have failed miserably when attempting this kind of approach, considering the fact that most of their elements stand out instead of blend in with the other features. With that in mind, this game truly reeks of awesomeness.。

You'll start out as a lord of a certain clan, doing various deeds that don't seem to mix well with the storyline. You'll be doing trivial stuff, separating you from the storyline. It's actually crazy at some point, much comparable to Superman helping an old woman cross the road, aware that Lois Lane is falling off a building. Browser games have generic plots regardless of its well-written lore. I've had my share of browser gaminodness, and might I say that most of them tend to dive off the plot 4 minutes into playing it. I guess this is what separates application games from this genre.。

Evony looks a lot like Age of Empires and Civilization. After looking at what the game's graphics have to offer, I was astounde how much these games have evolved throughout the years (wasn't Kingdom of Loathing just err... MS Paint-based?).。

 。

 。

Expanding Lands in Evony

 。

All in all, the game is really fun to play whether you subscribe or not. It's really newbie friendly so you don't have to worry about being ganged on when first entering the scene. The visuals are quite impressive especially for a browser game, with well-rendered buildings that blend well in their respective terrain. There tons of people who are playing the game so it'll be hard to feel alone even if you want to be. Tier whoring or subscription whoring may be an issue for those who want an equal basis for all players, but heck there's nothing we can do about that right? The game also features a wide set of linear quests that don't seem to mix with the storyline. It's no biggie... At least the game has quests right?。

 。

Evony Review: I Think I've Seen This Game Before
By Kei Beneza (dividelife), OnRPG journalist。

 。

 。

You can also expand your empires scope by conqug or befriending other towns. You will earn rewards as you team up with other areas (NPCs) earning either extra soldier, gold or other necessities. Competing with other players (PVP) is one of the main attractions of today's MMO games. No one could ever resist beating down other players to boost their online ranks and self worth. Worry not new players! You will be given a 7-day immunity period against enemy attacks (specifically other players) when starting the game. Once you've established your base and array of soldiers, you'll probably be the one to beg for the barrier/immunity to go down LOL. The game has an outstanding community, making it hard for you not to fight. As much as the words MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER is concerned, I'd say that player population is good enough for you to enjoy playing this game for a long time.

Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew is out of control.  That show sucks."But last night -- Bach was in full attack mode ... taking several sarcastic jabs at Drew ... before making the "quack" crack. UPDATE: Dr. Drew tells us ... while he's not involved in the casting of "Celebrity Rehab," he's more then willing to help anyone that wants help -- but he will not force someone to get help if they don’t want it.

According to the suit, filed in LA Superior Court last month, Denise claims she was "requested to jump on a trampoline ... in order for photographs to be taken of her."  We're guessing Denise has a huge smile. During the jumping session, Denise claims she tore the meniscus in her right knee ... but instead of proper medical assistance, she was merely given crutches and sent on her way. In the docs, Denise claims "There were no warning signs posted ... as to the dangers posed by the use of the equipment." She has a point, even shampoo has directions. Denise claims the injury required surgery -- and she's demanding more than $25k for her troubles. A call to Playboy was not returned.

Grand Chase Interview

Onrpg: What is NTreev's opinion on these companies that are working with publishers to allow RMT (Realm Money Transactions), thus giving a part of the profits of these sales to the publisher?"
Regardless of the profits that the publishers may possibly receive from these companies and their transactions, the very act of RMTs disrupt and serve to sever, hinder and corrupt both game balance and actual game communities in online gaming. On the surface, the fact that some publishers are choosing to officially endorse this practice and partner themselves with companies that will assist players in the real-money-transactions for digital property (which they don't own) makes it seem as if it's putting some sort of power into the players' hands. But when you really look at what this type of system really does and means, with consideration of the copyrights for the software, the accounts themselves and all related information, it's more than a little suspect. At worst, it shows a complete disregard for the player communities themselves as the sheer idea of 'profit' is obviously taking center stage in the decision to implement such allowances and practices, and game balance and the relationships of players within a set game community are chucked out the window for a chance at the all mighty dollar.。
Onrpg: How many game modes are there?
There are two main types of game modes that being PVP, and PVE (the Dungeon System). Within these basic categories there are further modes, for instance in the PVP mode, there are Survival, and Team matches etc. And then you have the Dungeon System where not only can players take on every single Dungeon solo or groups up to four, but each Dungeon has three varying levels of difficulty and complexity. Combine this with special missions and quests and the Dungeon System really begins to take on a much deeper shape than the more traditional 'dungeon runner' that I think we're all used to. Aside from those basic categories, we will also be adding mini-games and even a non-combat based map where players will be able to hang out and show-off their characters and chat with one another within the same game-world setting as the rest of Grand Chase.。
Onrpg: Why did Ntreev USA decide to publish this title?
Right off, Grand Chase is simply a great game. We were looking for a title that would complement our existing online RPG in Trickster, and we were very lucky to discover an action title designed from the ground floor to be an online game. Since we already have an RPG, and further an RPG that we really believe in and are quite proud of, we really didn't want to take the easy road and find another RPG to slop onto the gaming world. True, it's an obviously tried and true formula, just look at how many online RPGs there are, both good ones and bad ones, there are tons, and possibly it's getting to the point where there are just too many for players to sift through and get to the really great titles out there. This is a sad state to be sure, and it seems that more and more titles are just being thrown into the mix, but it's like overwhelming everyone who loves chocolate with nothing but varying versions of the same type of chocolate bar. After a while people need to try something else, or their going to get sick of it, no matter how much they deeply and truly love chocolate. The same is true for online games, and with this recent deluge, I think the timing could not be better for introducing something a bit new. The fact that Grand Chase is a brilliantly designed and executed game coupled with its fresh take on the online gaming genre makes it a perfect candidate. We thought it was time to offer online gamers something different, something new, its identifiable with elements that they already know and love, but it has more than a few cool tricks up its sleeve.。
Onrpg: What is your favorite character to play in Grand Chase and why?
That's actually a tough one, and I don't mean that in any trite way. In the original three characters that are available, I actually go against my usual preference (which would be Elesis the warrior) and I've developed a great affinity for Arme the mage. Honest, I am not usually a lover of magic type characters in either fighting games or more traditional online RPGs, but Grand Chase's Arme really just clicks with me. I started with Elesis at first, and she was very easy for me to pick up, she's fast, she's powerful and very straightforward, but once I gave Arme a chance I really saw how big a role strategy plays in the game play. It's not about button mashing, Grand Chase is a fast-paced action brawler, but you need finesse, timing and skill, and I think Arme really pushed me to sharpen those skills; she made me look at the game and the game play in a new way. And now that I've crossed over to the 'other' side, I really don't know why I didn't do it sooner.。
Onrpg: What sorts of characters are you able to play as?
This is a great question actually, because Grand Chase is set up a bit differently than most online games, and especially RPGs (of which Grand Chase shares many elements with), in the game every player begins, right off the bat, with access to all three of the starting characters at the same time, and they are free to choose and alter between all the characters in their roster with each and every dungeon, or PVP bout and level and progress them individually as they see fit. When players start they will be able to use Arme the mage, Lire the archer, or Elesis the warrior. Later on, as players progress through the game they will be able to both unlock new playable characters to add to their existing roster and progress all of the characters in their roster to new jobs which opens the way for new skills, attacks and the like. It is important to note that the character roster is not limited, every player can unlock all of the playable characters if they choose, it just takes a bit of effort and skill to do it. The new characters and new jobs bring new character types into the mix as well as new attacks, abilities, weapon types and playing styles. Whether you like to be a tank, play it from a distance, indulge in magical carnage or be fast and deadly there is definitely a character to match your taste.。
Onrpg: What sorts of things can we expect to see in the item mall?
Customization of all of the characters in Grand Chase is done through equipment, meaning armor, weapons, accessories and fashion items. These items not only drastically change the appearance of the character in question but they directly affect the stats and abilities that they have in-game. Therefore, equipment of this type will obviously be in the Shop system, but other things will be included as well such as pets (which also affect stats and abilities and fight along side the character), new skills, special missions, special quests and a couple extra surprises that we'll be talking about when it gets a bit closer to their release. Basically, everything that a player could possibly need for their character or their entire character roster can be found in the in-game Shop, and remember that items can be purchased in a variety of ways and not just with Ntreev Cash Points.。
Onrpg: What is the ultimate goal of the game?
Since it is a combat-centric action title I think it might be easy to simply dismiss the goal as nothing deeper than topping the PVP ranks. And really, that is certainly a great goal, and I would strongly encourage every player who thinks that they have the skill that it takes to go out there and prove it in the dizzying head to head competition available. But at the same time, I think that the Dungeon System, the game world itself and its backstory and setting itself offers the ultimate goal. After all, Grand Chase has a real storyline which is not only revealed with the progress of the players through each stage and Dungeon, but it offers a specific solidarity to the world. There is evil to fight, and really what's the point of hyping a large epic struggle without the opportunity to actually go toe-to-toe with the big baddy at the end? So, PVP and personal ranking are certainly goals for the game, but progressing through the story and working to save the very land of Bermesiah (where the game is set) and defeat the evil that threatens it is really the ultimate goal.。
Onrpg: Will this game be free to play with an item mall or will it be using another business model?
Yes, just like Ntreev USA's other title, Trickster Online Revolution, the game is completely and utterly free to play, and free to download. And just like Trickster, Grand Chase will offer a Shop feature where new items, equipment, weapons, accessories, pets, skills and the like can be purchased. In Grand Chase items can be purchased with in-game currency and real world money as well as with particular items that are attained only by completing certain tasks or missions, or defeating particular Bosses. The interesting thing for Grand Chase's Shop is that it will use the same Ntreev Cash Points that Trickster Online Revolution uses, which means that players who wish to play both games and purchase the items within either game that require Ntreev Cash Points will be able to spend them and use them however they wish between the titles. In fact, it's important to keep in mind that players who already have a Trickster Online Revolution account are ready and set to start playing Grand Chase without any extra work, or the creation of a new account.。
Onrpg: What will the focus of content updates be?
The updates will cover the regular things that we might think of for online games, with some special attention to maintaining the game balance for the combat. In addition to this will be new Dungeons, new mobs, new Bosses, items, weapons, accessories, pets, skills, characters and more. Basically, updates will be content focused, packing new modes, features and most of all in-game content into the game itself every single time.。 Answered by Aleister D D Gilgrim, Ntreev USA Inc
Interview by Brian Perry Jr., Senior Editor Onrpg.com

Onrpg: Can you tell us a bit about Grand Chase?
Grand Chase is at its very core, an all-out-action title. It's all about the combat, and that is really where Grand Chase excels. Obviously though, just having a robust combat system is not really enough to make a game with real staying power nor is it enough to give replay value. Grand Chase offers more than just straight PVP options that can be found in other titles, with the PVP there is also a very detailed and incredibly well designed Dungeon System. What this does is add the best of both competitive and cooperative gameplay types where players can either duke it out against one another or work together to clear large, lavish dungeons and tackle final bosses. In both instances, the combat is key, and Grand Chase is an action title, so it's not just point and click and wait for pre-animated fighting to take place between or players or in-game mobs, instead it becomes a game of skill, timing, finesse and strategy. And all of this is wrapped up in a beautiful and vibrant 3D fantasy world with great characters and an engrossing backstory and world.

Product Review Razer Diamondback Mouse

RAZER DIAMONDBACK。This mouse is currently being used in WCG (World Cyber Games) for maximum efficiency when it comes to playing RTS (real time strategy), FPS (first person shooters) and even on MMO tournaments in other events. Play like a pro! Own like a pro! Get one, and gain that unfair advantage. If they mutter around about the match not being a fair fight, then sucks for them cause they dont have it.。The 1800 dpi precision sensor is awesome for high resolution gameplay, with an easily adjustable sensitivity option that lets you take control further. The mouse has 7 programmable buttons that are separated by profiles. Since the Razer mouse saves these settings on its onboard (or should I say onmouse) memory, you can switch profiles in order to suit your preferred gameplay. In my opinion, the infrared sensor is more practical than the laser ones due to its oversensitive sensor that makes your mouse jerk around over slight movements such as bass rumbling. The mouse also provides the user with 55% less movement on the player's side in order for the mouse to issue your desired command/movement. It means that you're most likely going to be at ease when executing certain jerks for the mouse to move.。The Razer Diamondback is an infrared mouse that is sure to enhance your gaming skills. Its grip-friendly appearance is one of the best things about this mouse. Whether you're comfortable with your hands flat around the surface or just gripping it in a claw fashion, the mouse isn't really that picky when it come to the user's grip. It still lets you feel like you're in command without the discomforts of feeling odd when using a different grip fashion.。The Razer Diamondback lets you scroll around the screen in a smooth fashion. Gliding across the screen as a body-like extension does feel satisfying. All the buttons including the mouse wheel are all nicely positioned on the mouse. The mousewheel is also much bigger than the average mouse, making it easier to find (trigger) on certain occasions.。1800dpi Razer Precision 3G infrared sensor Seven independently programmable Hyperesponse buttons On-The-Fly Sensitivity adjustmentAlways-On mode Ultra-large non-slip buttons16-bit ultra-wide data path6400 frames per second (5.8 megapixels per second)60-120 inches per second and 15g of accelerationScroll wheel with 24 individual click positionsZero-acoustic Ultraslick Teflon feetGold-plated USB connectorSeven-foot, lightweight, non-tangle cordApproximate size: 129mm (length) x 63mm (width) x 38.5mm (height)。 By Kei Beneza (Dividelife), OnRPG Journalist

OZ WORLD

Oz Online offers a breath of fresh air in today’s combat-ruled MMORPG landscape. Instead of forcing players to compete against each other, this game promotes community and friendship by concentrating on friendly interactions and social gatherings. Players who decide to participate in the unique system of Oz Personal have a much easier time making friends online, at the same time getting to know some of them in real-life.

The driving force of Oz Online is in fishing. This is how players advance in the game, earning social points and Gold. While the early levels only serve to introduce the players to Oz-style fishing, it can be a thing of art at higher levels. There are skills that enhance various aspects of a player’s fishing prowess, and seeking the best spots for different types of fish easily takes a life of its own. Forming a party with other players also speeds up the process of advancing as a fisher, and finding a willing gamer is never a problem.

There are numerous ways of spending the wealth gained through fishing. Literally thousands of customizable items exist, from clothing, hairstyles, accessories, and many others. Even item combinations are possible to allow for the creation of rare and interesting items. Players may own a house for themselves as well, free to choose from many pieces of furniture and hardware for decoration. No character looks the same; people soon recognize a player by the way she looks alone.

Those interested may opt to post a classified ad in Oz Personal section of the game’s web site. Think of it as a space for players to share a little about who they are, with photos and descriptions. Oz Personal provides our players a foundation from which they can grow strong bonds with one another. There are cases where in-game relationships develop into real-life ones. To help facilitate such couples, Oz Online also allows in-game marriage, complete with presents and honeymoon houses.

This game will prove a nice change of pace for those looking for a space to just relax with friends. All they need to do is, well, populate the game world, and Oz Online will take care of the rest. Many events have been prepared to greet new players, and player-organized contests are also on the horizon. Oz Online is currently offering free lifetime accounts to new players.

Zodiac Online Review Cool... I Think

 。

 。

Well, I suppose that takes care of the grinding factor. Renown Quests, as they call them let players gain double the experience and a bit of cash when doing their first 20 quests of the day. You can take as many quests as you can but do but only the first 20 give double exp and gold. After a mouthful of rewards, it's back to your average x1 rate (Boo). Hmm, the whole idea is probably similar to the Daily quest routine of World of Warcraft. It does pay well really, but gets kind of old after continuous repetition (I mean come on... can you stand doing the same old thing over and over again?). Questing in this game isn't the typical "Kill this monster and I give you money" routine. To be honest, you'll be surprised at how diverse the quest objectives are. Courier missions, kill and retrieve, crafting tasks, you'll find a lot of those here.。

Storyline in Zodiac Online

 。

The good:
- Awesome character creation
- Pet system
- Quests
- Good visuals。

 。

 。

One of the first things you'll probably notice would be the rather unusual character selection screen. Honestly, the design makes it look more like a fighting game than an MMO. One thing you have to know is that there are no classes in Zodiac Online. The character selection screen is only there to verify which path you would like to take. Yes, you will have a lot of unique features at your disposal at first (like your starting statsand stuff) but everything is available for everyone to learn. What separates you from the rest however is how much you'll progress on your own path. The game uses the aptitude system (stats bar) so I guess there's no need to explain that part. Each constellation or Zodiac has its own specialty. It doesn't mean that they have exclusive skills, but the way they excel in their own specialty is beyond the rest. There are no class restrictions so if you want a fire mage that does extra ice damage then go for it! A healer that deals melee damage? Why not! The possibilities are endless whichmakes character creation really fun for those who enjoy experimenting on builds.。

 。

 。

Zodiac Online Review: Cool... I Think
By Kei Beneza (dividelife), OnRPG Journalist。

During the beta, things ran pretty smoothly. I'm sure this MMO will cater to a lot of gamers worldwide. A diverse character creation system, a whole array of possibilities, this is one awesome game. The game has an item mall so I guess players can just quicken the pace if things start to turtle around. The pet system is superb as well, giving a whole new mechanic for the strengthening of your everyday adventure buddies. The stat system, in my opinion is rather stupid as people would always go for a stereotypical build after learning which one hits harder. Stats are nothing more than a nuisance that separates people who just started from the people who experimented for countless nights trying to find the right build. Really, there are more ways to encourage character builds, and stats (in my opinion) are definitely one of the worst ways to promote individuality. Overall I would say that the game still has more room for improvement. One thing is for certain though; Zodiac Online is definitely on the right track.。

 。

 。

Experiment with skills

The bad:
- Stats system again?
- I can see clones manifesting in the future
- lack of individual character looks.。

Perhaps one of the best features in this game would be the Pet system. I sort of remember the same mechanics in Shin Megami Tensei Online but this one's a bit more tame (in terms of headaches). Pets, much like in other MMOs are your eternal party members. There are a lot of reasons why players should get pets, and a higher rate of survival would probably be enough to convince anyone. The evolution is just amazing as your pets can transform into stronger beings when they turn into eggs. With a few talismans for luck and a bunch of other stuff for MORE LUCK (lol), your pet can turn into the ultimate killing machine.。

Superb would be a good description for Zodiac Online's visuals. Here you have a pimped up 2d world with cutesy characters that are exquisitely armed in combat. The details are amazing (of course counting that it's 2d) with anime drawn characters (the Zodiacs) that look very much different from each another. I wasn't really kidding when I said it was like Ragnarok online on steroids. Here you have an isometric birds eye view which can't really be rotated as freely as Ragnarok but hey! It's an awesome setup for a 2d game. Some of the characters (namely NPCs) may look out of place, being all non-anime and stuff but that shouldn't be much of a problem as a player's focus is his or her character. Things can get quite confusing at times since some NPCs look a lot like each other. Maybe it's just me but I often end up interacting with the wrong NPC, probably because I tend to remember their faces and not the names.。

 。

Geez! Talk about lacking ideas. Nah, just kidding! Zodiac online is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) that deals with ancient Chinese mythology (or at least a version of it). The story revolves around the arrival of doomsday (possibly an apocalyptic prophecy) and about the twelve eastern constellations who are hell-bent on stopping the catastrophe. Zodiac online is basically the same MMO we know and love, only with a different perspective and a less stereotypical storyline (YES! NO ORCS AND ELVES HERE FOLKS!).。

 。

 。

The concept is also a bit different as far as character creation and progression are concerned but we'll get to that as we go further with our review. The game is actually pretty cute, with "chibified" (small dimension) characters that are sure to make you go "aww". The game is actually one of the best 2d MMOs I've seen so far, kind of like a better version of Ragnarok online when it comes to its nicely done visuals. So aside from the Zodiacs and horoscopes, what separates this game from other 2d games? Is its visual advantage over its 2d brethren the only thing that makes it special? Yeah I know, the Logo is actually pretty catchy but there has to be something there.

Deus Ex Human Revolution dev diary shows stealth gameplay

Square Enix has released a new developer diary for Eidos Montreal's Deus Ex: Human Revolution focusing on stealth gameplay. As lovers of all things Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell this style of combat is definitely piquing our interest. As you'll see in the developer diary below, hero Adam Jensen can be kitted up to the teeth with augmentations that increase his prowess when out of sight. If you want more Deus Ex footage, check out another of the 'Four Pillars of gameplay' movies.

2029 Online Preview Sci-fi RTS on a whole new scale

This is the backdrop of the world of 2029 Online. You get to choose from the five different races that have been part of the war in Helen Continent. IGG has remained tight lipped until now in regards on the skills and the overall description of each race. We’ll just have to wait for it as the development continues on.。
2029 online is set on an alien planet named Helen Continent. The humans have left the war-devastated Earth, seeking a new home where they can live and prosper. Upon landing they found out that the planet is under constant war as the other races that have inhabited the planet strive to be supreme. The humans join the fray to try and take part in this power struggle. As the war progressed only a few of the races remained, they are the Humans, the Dryads, the Electronic Elves, the Ice Energy and the Mechanicals. The five races of Helen Continent have gradually settled into a peaceful co-existence.。
Like the mercenary system, there has been no clear information regarding the AFV found in-game. Though 2029 Online promises customizability of your vehicle, there are still a lot of questions left unanswered, but as the game nears beta, you can finally get to see what you can do with it.。 The guild system is in fact unique in that aspect. The way guilds are done in 2029 Online may in fact eliminate people from creating small and dead guilds that have plagued f2p MMOs. Though it may seem problematic when it comes to guild balance especially when people start flocking to only a few guilds, this system has yet to prove that the theory behind it can be fun.
2029 Online does have a lot of innovative features to make it equal to some of the games of the same genre. The game promises and boasts about a lot of functionalities, but these have yet to be seen to be believed in. The skill system is the first thing you need to look into. As the game is considered as a skill-centered game, it is important that we get to see what the skills are. True, there is variety in the races in 2029 Online, but what makes them set apart from the other races in the other games? Would they have the common skills that we often see in games that include these races into their roster? 。 Besides the RTS-RPG feel of 2029 Online, the game also includes vehicles into the mix. The in-game vehicles that your character can use helps out by boosting your character’s stats and may leave lasting effects as you enter dungeons. The vehicles which are known as Armored Fighting Vehicles, loosely called AFV, have upgradable and customizable parts. These vehicles would serve as either your protection or your extra arm in dealing out pain.。 The role-playing genre has become the center MMO style of game play that developers have often used in their games, but now there are a few games that have taken a different route. Real-time strategy MMOs have emerged into the MMO scene. One example is the sci-fi MMORTS from IGG, 2029 Online.。 By Vincent Haoson。 Also the pvp and guild system needs to be really cleaned out. If this is in fact an RTS then this aspect of the game should be given a lot of attention to. How would pvp work? It is fun if we go against other players on a battlefield RTS style trying best each other out, but how will it be done?。 These are but a few of the things that IGG needs to really shed some light at. However I can’t deny the fact that 2029 Online is an interesting game, with the features and the game system included. There are still rough edges with the game but with proper time in developing, this can be a jewel of a game.。 Alongside the RTS-RPG feel of the game, there is an in-game mercenary system that is included. This system gives players a higher chance of surviving a dungeon especially when they are not included in a party. Mercenaries can be included in the dungeon you are in as you start, you can choose from four types of mercs and they are: the swordsman, soldier, gun fighter and the sniper. You can control your mercenaries as you play in the area you are in and they also die if you are not careful. 。 Another thing is the AFV system. I can’t deny that it is an attractive addition to the overall game experience, but the question I have in the back of my mind is if it is that spectacular as the game information provides? The customization feature is also something that IGG needs to clarify. How customizable is customizable? Admittedly this would be one of the main player earners for 2029 Online but the question is up to what extent can you customize?。 Another feature in the game that is uniquely used by 2029 Online is the Guild System. Unlike in other MMOs where guild member numbers do not necessarily affect how strong the guild is, in 2029 Online, the number strength of your guild is dependent on the amount of members that it has.。
The game boasts that it has successfully mixed Real-Time Strategy with Role playing elements into one game. Real-Time Strategy is said to be part of the battle system as you have to think of various elements when you are in a battle. Descriptions of the RTS elements also include that you can build your own base, create your own heroes and even destroying your enemy’s army.。 The details regarding the mercenaries are still sketchy as of this moment, if including them in your party would mean that the experience points you gain is also halved and what not. The only thing that is sure now is the kinds of mercenaries you can use and that they disappear upon death or that when you change scenes or log out.

Dungeon Fighter Online Official Launch Interview

 。

Do I honestly have to explain the difference between boys and girls here? It's the size of their guns. I'll let you decide whose is bigger. A lot of their skills are the same, the common ones: Gatling Gun, Flamethrower, etc. But there are some specific skill differences. She has the Marilyn Rose instead of the Male Gunner's Jack Spike, Topspin Kick instead of the Windmill, and the ever popular Spriggan instead of the Punisher. She's also faster, but sometimes does less damage because of it. Though she too comes from Empyrean, she has an entirely different back story. When you create a Female Gunner you'll be able to read her intro comic. She starts locked in a prison cell, and you won't believe what she does to escape.。

 。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Here's a personal question I'd like to ask: The timed selectable avatars. It's finally nice to be able to look you want, but is there any chance of there being permanent selectable avatars?。

 。

Machinist Gaelbog Fight

First, we wanted to offer players who have committed time and energy to their characters something truly valuable. We're giving away skill resets, which normally sell for NX 25,000 (and if you spend some time with the game, you really will get a sense about how valuable these things are), to all characters who, on June 9th are at level 30. By level 30 you really start getting a feeling for minor changes you'd like to see in your skill build that will mean the difference between knocking a boss monster down in one run and having to drop Life Tokens to take him out. We're hoping that players are going to support the game in the future by buying skill resets. Now, we aren't leaving Female Gunners out of this. We have a separate event for them. We want to encourage players to start a Female Gunner on June 9th and level her up fast, because on June 30th, we will be giving all Female Gunners who have reached level 30 a free skill reset.。

OnRPG: Now I'm going to ask something that I'm pretty sure is on the minds of every diehard Dungeon Fighter Online fan (or Dungeon & Fighter fan or Arad Senki fan): When are priests going to get their time to shine? The player run shops are nice, but wouldn't it be nicer if players could auction their items, instead? PvP makes for decent endgame content, but wouldn't it be better if players could go to war with each other or battle monsters in some crazy old towers instead? Come on, spill it!。

The idea for the Public Test Server was to open it periodically to a select group of players when we have a lot of really cool new content to test. The more eyes the better. But we also want player feedback so that we can shape new content for the better. We listen to our fans all the time, reading the forums, offering things like the PTS, throwing out polls. We want to make the best game for our players that we possibly can.。

It's a big moment for our team. Dungeon Fighter Online is one of the most popular games in the world and now we're officially bringing all of its fighting action excitement to North American gamers. There is something in DFO for every type of gamer: Anyone who has ever played an arcade fighting game is going to flip out about how cool the combat is, pummeling through dungeons until you get to the boss monster-super classic; RPG fans are going to love choosing a class, leveling up, creating a skill build, equipping the right type of weapons and armor to compliment their unique brand of monster bashing; and PvP players are going to love how many different ways there are to beat up on their friends and strangers alike.。

 。

OnRPG: Well thank you for your time! It has been a pleasure doing this interview with you and I can't wait for the official launch! In fact, I'm going to jump back into DFO and start working on my Blade Master, again!。

 。

 。

Just that we thank all of the players who have so far made DFO such a great success, and we welcome everyone to download the game and player for free today by visiting http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net!。

OnRPG: Another question that I'd like to ask on behalf of all the hardcore DFO, D&F and Arad Senki fans: Does your team at Nexon have any intentions of having DFO catch up to its foreign counterparts?。

Much of the lag issue we are facing is due directly to difference in the internet infrastructure between the US and Korea. And, yes, we have made tremendous progress toward closing the gap. We are also adding to the service several ways for players to optimize their game as well. Dungeon Fighter Online runs on a peer-to-peer network, meaning that the stronger your connection with fellow players, the less network issues you will experience.  We've designated half of our servers for the Western side of the US and Canada, and the other half for the Eastern side. To encourage players to use the server that corresponds to their region, we are offering a 5% EXP bump. This empowers our players with the ability to find their most lag-free game.。

Dungeon Fighter Online: Official Launch Interview
Questions by Michael Sagoe (mikedot), OnRPG Journalist
Answered by Luis Reyes, Associate Producer for Dungeon Fighter Online。

 。

 。

 。

As a DFO fan myself, I was more than eager to take this interview, so I spoke with a representative over at Nexon US to get scoop on the official launch!。

 。

 。

 。

Female Gunner

Just wait for the launch.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Soul Reaper

 。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Well if you can't say for this interview, could you at least drop us a hint as to when we might be getting those features? *wink wink* *nudge nudge*。

We are taking severe action against hackers and gold farmers. We take the issue very seriously. We have set up new security systems, some of which you might notice when we launch on June 9th. We have been actively going after users who exploit the game, both technologically and litigiously. We have been so aggressive about this that we have driven up the price of gold being sold on third party sites. Automatic bans, game blockers, legal action, diligent responses to reported situations by our internal investigations team-all have proven very effective. But there is one thing our players can do to really help us make DFO a safe and friendly environment for all-don't purchase gold from gold farming sites.。

Of course. For all the reasons we mentioned above, we can't do this all at once. Dungeon Fighter is a unique and highly complex game. By building it in stages, we ensure the quality of the game for everyone. We'd also like to emphasize that DFO is its own service. We are drawing from  the catalogue of features and content that already exists, but we are creating a new experience, in the order we are releasing content, the speed at which we are doing it, and even in how we are developing original content for the game, such as a new NPC that was recently voted on by our fans. Above all, we are offering a service of the highest quality and have shaped our development and release schedule to ensure that.。

 。

 。

OnRPG: So what makes the female gunners different from male gunners?。

Already we have One-on-One Play, Team Play for up to four vs. four, Elimination in which your team lines up against another and you step in when the teammate in front of you falls, and then an all out Brawl mode where up to eight plays can just tear into each other until one is left standing. So as far as modes are concerned, I think we got the basics covered. There might be new modes in the future, but for now, we feel players are really digging the arena. As for new PvP maps, these are very likely on the horizon, but we want to get a lot more content out first.  。

 。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Alright, well let's jump right into the good stuff: What can players expect from the official launch of DFO?。

 。

OnRPG: What about PvP? Will there be any new modes or arenas for DFO players to battle in?。

Agh, how much of a hint can I possibly give. Just rest assured that Dungeon Fighter Online aims to be every bit as robust and exciting as the Asian incarnations of the game.。

OnRPG: So now dungeons include "Hell Mode". How much harder will it be compared to a King's Road dungeon run? (I can only imagine, since King's Road is already pretty darn hard!)。

OnRPG: I noticed that your team at Nexon decided to host a skill reset event. What convinced you guys to give them out for free?。

OnRPG: So is there anything else you'd like to add?。

 。

Dude, everything you have spoken will come to pass. It's as if you have augured the path of DFO. I can't give you a lot of details now, but diehard DFO fans will have plenty to celebrate as we move into the fall. The auction house, the priest redesign, tower battles, and much, much more.。

 。

OnRPG: Now here's something else about DFO's current state that I'd like to ask: Bots. Gold Farmers. They've been running rampant all over the world of Arad for quite some time. Is your team at Nexon taking any precautious to getting rid of them once and for all?。

 。

 。

 。

OnRPG: What about lag and latency issues? Have these issues been resolved before launch?。

 。

 。

 。

Pretty darn hard times ten. There are several stages to even getting into the Hell Mode in the first place. You have to go through a quest series to obtain a Quelling Stone, then you have to find the Seal Gate in the regular dungeon (the harder the mode, the more likely you will find it), then you have to break the seal and let the evil minions out. And they just keep coming at you, with attacks you have never even dreamed of in your worst nightmares. You can only use three Life Tokens as well, so you better haul cases and cases of health potions in with you.。

OnRPG: During the testing period, a public test server was opened. Will the test server remain active after the official launch or will it be removed?。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Hello! First off, I'd just like to say congratulations on your official launch for DFO! How do you and your team at Nexon feel about all this?。

For the official launch, no. We got the Female Gunner, Hell Mode, new Awakenings, Guild expansion, optimized connection updates, a whole host of events. This is a big update. But we are following this up throughout the summer with some pretty heavy duty additions that will make long time DFO fans very happy, and blow the minds of brand new fans.。

On June 9th 2010, Dungeon Fighter Online will be going "official". Well, that is to say, it will be going into official service. For those who haven't heard of Dungeon Fighter Online before, it's a massive multiplayer online hack n' slash/beat 'em up in the resemblance of classic arcade titles such as Final Fight, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and D&D: Shadow over Mystara. With this upcoming launch, you can expect a load of new features that will excite both DFO veterans and newcomers alike.。

The biggest piece of news is our launch of the Female Gunner, the sixth available character class. She has a lot of the same killer skills as her Male counterpart, but with a few new surprises, not the least of which being that she's faster. We also have three new sub-class Awakenings open to high-level players; the Slayer's Soul Reaper, the Fighter's Hellcat and the Gunner's Machinist. And for the hardcore player that absolutely needs monsters as hard as freaking possible, the Hell Mode will, hands down, kick ass. But if you can get through it, there are some amazing rewards, like Epic Items, the most powerful weapons and armor introduced into the game so far, twelve times more powerful than the typical Dungeon Fighting gear.  Now, because we know that Dungeon Fighter is a lot more fun when playing with your friends, with our official launch we are expanding the old beta size of the guilds by doubling the guild level cap to 10 and cranking up the membership limit from 50 to 300. Of course, we will be throwing a whole slate of events for the launch.。

OnRPG: Will there be any new areas or dungeons for our DFO players to visit during the official launch?

Regnum Online Interview Get Ready For The Launch

Once you have obtained all 6 gems, you will be able to place them in your portal and enter a mysterious place. There, you will be granted the ability to vote a wish that will benefit you or your entire realm . Here, the will of the people will decide. One great thing about Invasions is that the reward will continuously be improved upon as we add more Wishes. This allows us to extend the basic gameplay without changing the rules. Usually, Invasions are experienced on a daily basis by hundreds of players at the same time.。
Onrpg: How does Regnum Online live up to its slogan? (''The best MMORPG with Realm vs. Realm action available FOR FREE'')
This is in a way thanks to the unique approach Regnum has given to the Realm vs Realm genre with its open-ended and accessible on-going battles. Also, Regnum is one of the only games where great amounts of players are constantly invading enemy territories and where almost half of the population of the server is actively participating. As a reward for such big feat as completing an invasion, your realm is given the opportunity to vote from a range of rewards that may affect the outcome of future battles for a week. The tagline has been actually mentioned many times by the community before we even used it as a slogan for the game.  And also we were really careful with Premium items not breaking the PvP balance.。
Onrpg: What kind of storyline does the game present to its players?
Three realms are in a on-going struggle for power. Each faction has its own historical and strategical reasons for engaging in battle but as the story unfolds through the quest lines you start discovering that there is different agenda behind the war. There are hundreds of quests and side quests with different storylines per realm and areas of the world.

。An MMO with a development team built on staying closely knit with their community just can't go wrong: "being a small but committed development team allowed us to stay in touch with the community on a regular basis" said Nicolas Lamanna, Producer for Regnum Online. Is this game's long-lasting success the fruit of this communication? As one of the extremely rare Realm vs. Realm MMORPGS that are available for free, Regnum Online's population in game is still booming. With activities ranging from one-man pvp hunts to castle sieging, this game is build with the PvPer in mind. This interview has some information on pass events, the game's storyline, what Regnum really means, information on game functions, and a little more interesting pieces of information!。
Onrpg: Could you please briefly explain invasions?
Invasions is the ultimate RvR feature in Regnum Online. It basically allows you to enter an enemy realm and break havoc. The way this works is pretty straight forward. Each realm has two forts and one castle, once you have captured the castle and at least one of the forts, the enemy great wall (each faction has one dividing the war zone from the inner realm) will become vulnerable and all the enemies, will gain a window of opportunity to destroy it. If you manage to build an army and destroy the Great Wall, you will be able to enter the enemy inner realm and steal a sacred gem. Each realm has two gems.。
Onrpg: In what way do the classes differ in game play? How about the races?
The classes vary between each other greatly. Each class was designed to fulfill a role in battle so a balanced army has more chances of winning and provides versatility when it comes to strategical and tactical decisions. We have three main classes: Warrior, Mage and Archer. And 6 sub-classes, 2 per each class, that provide a great deal of customization. Even so, players of the same subclass have different specs tailored for the current situation. You could be configured for damage dealing, support, hunting or even a combination. The choice is up to the player.。
Onrpg: Now that the Regnum Online's Second Anniversary event has ended, what have you planned for the future?
We have plans to continue offering big 1-week events for known dates, such as Halloween or Christmas. We are also thinking of doing smaller events, that last a weekend and offer discounts and special prices. In terms of event, we just began to scratch the surface of what we can do to keep the community alive.。
Onrpg: What elements of the game appeal to you the most?
- The fact that the players are from all over the world give the game a very unique feeling to it. You will see different servers with different cultures, all with their beliefs and ways of playing.
- The way the world is designed to end up in a big war zone, makes the game really accessible for several kind of players. While at the same time, it offers safe zones for those who want a more social experience without being disturbed.
- How the Premium works in favor of the PvP aspects and not against it.
- The potential the game still has (Including the upcoming technology update), we already have so much plans that will offer even more ways to have fun。This is where the real fun begins, an open-ended battlefield where you will find:
- One man hunts, ideal for solo players. If you are stealthy enough and careful, you can always catch an enemy off guard.
- Party battles, you can always team up with fellow realm members and go for a quick skirmish. This part of the world is only geographically limited, so fights are available any time if you are willing to look for one.
- Fort and Castle captures: These buildings form the basis of the Invasions feature (explained below) but even by themselves they offer an interesting alternative by defending yours and attacking/siegeing enemy ones.
- Big battles: Once an Invasion has settled in, is all about chaos and giant battles involving hundreds of players all over the world! If you want to get through the famous portal located in each realm, you will have to fight your way into enemy territory and steal their gems. It won't be easy but it will be a lot of fun!

Onrpg: What measures do you take to ensure a seemingly decent balance between premium item purchasing players and regular players?
This is one of the key aspects in Regnum Online. We paid attention to this common complaint on all free-to-play MMOGs and designed the premium content in a way that doesn't give you a definite advantage in PvP and RvR. While you will certainly get an enhanced experience by getting premium content, it will be mostly related to visual customization, time saving and uniqueness. But when it comes to PvP, two players will always have to rely on their skills and the knowledge of their surroundings. There are no restrictions on spells or skills that you can get, so any player can maximize their characters and still be confident that they stand a chance in battle.

Onrpg: Are there any planned future updates for the game? If so, what can players expect?
One thing Regnum is known for, is that updates come often. Usually once a month. This helps the game stay alive and offer players a constant influx of content.。
Onrpg: Could you please offer us a rundown on PvP in Regnum Online?
First of all, PvP in Regnum Online is fast paced including a great variety of tactics and spells. PvP and specifically RvR is what Regnum Online is all about. Every location, race, class and spell has been designed taking PvP into account. The game begins in a safe haven, providing a smooth tutorial into the mechanics of the game. As you advance your character and set your way into the world, you'll discover soon enough that you are in there for a reason, to defend your realm and your fellow allies! Once you set foot in the "War Zone", which is basically a no man's land in the center of the world, you must be careful because enemies are lurking around every corner.。
Onrpg: How valuable is party play in the game? Can solo players enjoy Regnum Online equally?
The game is easily soloable, even with support classes. You just have to setup a build that fits your playing style and class. On the other hand, parties are pretty common in the game and offer several advantages to those who are willing to travel in groups. Parties also have experience bonuses but even solo players will get shared experience automatically if two or more players attack the same creature.。Onrpg: What does Regnum Online mean, exactly? Where has this title been chosen from?
Regnum comes from Latin and it means "Realm". We chose this name because it represented the essence of the game, which is three realms engaged in constant battle and as a little homage to the first game ever published in CD format here in Argentina, where one of our founders worked and it was called Regnum. Although the name is similar, it belonged to a different genre.。 Questions by Rick Charbs, Onrpg writer
Answered by Nicolas Lamanna, Regnum Online Producer。We already have some major improvements under development:
- Graphic engine revamp, offering more performance, stability and visual options
- All player characters will be redone offering better quality and more customization options
- Invasions for low level players, get a glimpse of the best feature of the game and help your fellow realm members!
- New and improved content for most of the world areas: New monsters, items, quests
- Continued work on balance
- New gameplay features and much more!。
Onrpg: What would you improve in the game if you were given the opportunity? Why?
We want to offer more content in several areas that could use some more and continue to expand on the RvR concept, offering more options. We also want to appeal more to other types of players, not only those who like PvP but PvE, commerce and social interaction.

Onrpg: What do you think makes Regnum Online so unique on the MMO market?
The game has a Western look & feel to it but also a asian approach in terms of business model. This rare blend allowed us to offer an unique experience. It also is constantly evolving and because of being from an independent developer and self-published, we can experiment more with gameplay, offering different options for those who are tired of the same old tried-and-true formula about grinding games which sole purpose is just to be more powerful so you can grind some more. While Regnum has its share of grinding, it's just a means to an end. Which is the RvR part of the game and where the fun never ends. Last but not least, being a small but committed development team allowed us to stay in touch with the community on a regular basis. This includes not only the forums but in-game as well, since several members of our team play and enjoy the game as every other player.。Regnum Online launches tomorrow (23rd of September, 2009)!!。
Onrpg: Regnum is available in Spanish, German, and English. What is the importance of having a varied community, in your opinion?
We think this is pretty big actually. We had our share of laughs and misunderstandings as we learned about subtle cultural differences. This was a double edged sword at the beginning but we adapted and now we see it as something unique to Regnum. There are people that claimed that wanted to learn new languages in order to understand what their realm fellow members were saying. There is even a fan-made comic that reflects this in a fun away (Regnum fan-made comic: http://iwconstructions.com/Regnum/).。
Onrpg: How deeply can you customize a character in Regnum Online?
Regnum offers several options when setting up your character. You can initially choose race, class, hair and hair color, facial hair and color, size and face. But the customization is also given as items in the game, every armor part and weapon changes your aspect. And even so, you can buy paint that will allow you to differentiate from other players.

Sword 2 Interview A Hybrid Game

Sword 2 Interview: A Hybrid GameQuestions by Tully Ackland, OnRPG JournalistAnswered by Myra Widodo, Associate ProducerOnRPG: Firstly, congratulations on your recent launch and thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions, could you start by giving those who might not be familiar to the game a run down what Sword 2 is?Sword 2 is our MMORTS/MMORPG hybrid title. The game's RTS/RPG features, Political PvP System, and beautiful graphics set it apart from other titles within the MMO and Free2Play markets. If someone were to ask me what the point of this game is, I would boil it down to the following; exploring the New World, uniting with your friends, and dominating control over the New World.OnRPG: Sword 2 isn't entirely a sequel to Sword of the New World; could you describe what sets them apart? We have completely revamped the first 20 levels and changed the new user experience. Previously, we had you start your journey on a boat sailing for the New World. For Sword 2, you are left shipwrecked and have to gather your basic armor and weapons. There is a "Tutorial Help" window that informs you where you are, what resources are available to you in that location, or what you can do. We've made it really easy for new players to get through the general tutorial and learn how to play the game so they can get to the real meat of it. In the end, after completing the tutorial players get awarded with a pet. Pets are an added benefit to players as most pets offer some enhancement of game play - whether that benefit be buffing or looting. Some of the major improvements we have made to the UI include a more robust Zone Map. We make it really clear where NPCs with available quests are located and we have a "Move" feature within the Zone map which will allow you to quickly move to an area or character of interest. We also now list all NPCs in an area on your map for easy reference. We've added a new friend summoning feature that allows players to summon their friends and clan mates to their location from anywhere in the New World. This really makes it easy to get around without a lot of hassle. Players can start instances and raids very quickly instead of having to run everywhere. We've revamped our entire leveling process to include more low level instances. Additionally, we've adjusted our raiding system to use instances as well. We still have open world raids (where clans fight for control over certain bosses) but now the majority of raiding happens in a private instance. In all we've added 4 new raid instances. We've added a lot of new content including new costumes, stances (special set of skills that players develop for their characters), weapons, armor and more. Character face customizations, mailbox system where you can message letters to other players, and improved Secret Guard System are some of the other changes.Secret Guard System is an in-game feature that allows advanced players to pair up with beginner players and have both parties benefit from playing together up until the beginner players have reached level 15. Players can chat with each other prior to committing, so they may avoid any "bad roommate" situations. That isn't even the tip of the iceberg; there are about 30 pages of changes. The only things we didn't change was the core of the game. You control 3 characters and fight for ownership of the New World.OnRPG: What drove the idea to revamp the first 20 levels of the game instead of laterally continuing the end game? Our goal with the revamp of the first 20 levels of the game were focused mainly on allowing new players to grasp the basics of the game quickly to expedite getting them to the meat of the game - which includes high level instances, raids, Faction Wars, and Elections. In this respect, we didn't exactly compromise working on laterally continuing the end game. We are ingraining new players with the end game in fact.OnRPG: The game features RPG strategy elements, the feature of controlling up to three characters at a time is a huge selling point for Sword 2, so could you tell us what advantages this gives the player? The Multi-Character Control mechanic where players can control and develop up to 3 characters at the same time reinforces the RTS aspect of the game more so than the RPG aspect. Since different characters have different skill sets, players can create a multitude of combinations out of those 3 characters to do different things. One big thing we never really liked about other games was the requirement that players had to find another player that was a healer or a tank to succeed. In Sword 2 everyone has a tank and a healer. But with the ability to create up to 63 characters players can create a balanced 3 person "team" with a Tank, Damage Dealer and a Healer or they can be a focused team of 3 Healers or 3 Damage Dealers or even 3 Tanks or any combination thereof. It adds a real level of detail to PvP and PvE game play that you won't find in any other game. One advantage the Multi-Character Control mechanic gives players, in the RPG aspect, is that it maximizes their time in developing their characters. Players do not have to grind to level and develop one character at a time because they are able to play with up to 3 characters at the same time. As mentioned earlier players also get a variety of the type of characters they want to experience playing with. They don't have to commit to choosing a specific Class and then find out half way to max level that they prefer another Class.OnRPG: Political Player vs Player is another major feature for Sword 2, could you give those unfamiliar a brief explanation as to what it is?Political PvP is definitely a huge selling point because ultimately ruling the New World is the end game. I would go as far to say that this is even more significant than the Multi-Character Control. Political PvP comes down to two major features - Elections and Faction Wars. Players can run for office and lead one of two Factions - the Republicans or the Royalists. While all players can vote for elected Faction Leaders, only Clans (a group of Families) can ally themselves to a Faction and only Clan leaders can run for office. When a Clan leader joins a Faction, all players in that Clan are immediately apart of the selected Faction. The elected leader of the Royalist Faction is called the Duke and the elected leader of the Republican Faction is called the President. In Faction Wars, individual clans fight to obtain and retain Colonies located all around the New World. At the end of Faction Wars, the Faction with the most Colonies is named the Dominate Faction. The "Dominate Faction" gets a large payment of in-game currency at the end of every month paid directly to the Faction's elected Leader. That Faction leader of the Dominate Faction, (be it the Duke or the President), will become the Premier. It is expected for the Premiere to divide the winnings out to all players in the Faction. However, there is nothing stopping them from keeping them, so it's extremely important to pick a leader you trust!OnRPG: What major features have players got their hands on recently after you just unleashed the last huge patch? The instanced raids are a big deal in terms of the new content we released. As mentioned earlier, we've adjusted our raiding system to use instances as well so now the majority of raiding happens in a private instance. This solves the problems of kill stealing and boss camping which are prevalent in many other MMOs. So certain areas in game don't become overcrowded with different parties all fighting for the same goal. As many of us know it stink to have kills taken away from you after you've spent all the time and effort.OnRPG: Sword 2 is developed in Korea, have you made any choices to Westernize the title?Sword 2 was in developed in Korea, by IMC Games. Hakkyu Kim, the famed creator of Ragnarok Online, is the lead designer of the game and was inspired to create the Sword 2 universe after visiting several countries in Europe and learning about the history which carried over to the Americas. In one sense, the content of the game is Western as it was inspired by Western History.Upon seeing the game, this inspiration is apparent in the design of diverse environments and ornate details of in-game items and costumes. Using Europe and colonial America for the world design, allowed Hakkyu Kim's art team the leisure to survey some of the most iconic sights in North America and incorporate them into the game. From a re-creation of the Grand Canyon to the frozen Canadian tundra, players will discover and experience breath-taking environments. In terms of the deliberate choices we have made to Westernize the game, most of it falls within translations of texts and community run events and contests. While we try to user more colloquial terms when translating dialogue of NPCs or descriptions for items, we still maintain the style of language that matches the world of Sword 2. Often times when we come up with ideas for promotions or events we'll make certain cultural references that could otherwise be considered Western. For example, we had a Lolcats Weekend event a couple weeks back that many of the players from our markets enjoyed.OnRPG: Sword 2 is back on retail store shelves, what drove this decision instead of opting for what much of the competition is doing with digital distribution?Sword 2 is actually not back in the retail stores yet. We are working out some plans for that so I would say just keep your eye out in the near future. We do a lot of digital distribution mainly because that's what our market has kind of pushed us to go that route. Especially, with Free2Play there is a lot of opportunities with digital distribution. Those opportunities are included in some of the "pros" for digital distribution, however, some of the "cons" include certain regions having bandwidth limitations or slower connections.Overall, our idea behind a future retail box is based off of what our players want. Our game is Free2Play, so the purpose of a retail box isn't so much selling the game client. With retail boxes we would sell rare packages of items, in-game currency, and exclusive digital content. There's something that players still enjoy about going to a physical store, picking up a box and game guide that you can hold in your hand. It is especially enjoyable when on top of holding that box in your hand you get items and content that you can't get any other way.OnRPG: Your next expansion Revelations is coming this fall; can you tell us what players can expect to see in this?Actually, we have decided that instead of releasing two expansions - Revelations and Renaissance - we are combining two expansions and releasing one MEGA expansion!Usually, with any expansion we'll have new items available for players in the in-game Bazaar. That may include costumes, weapons, etc. The two major things that we think our players are going to go crazy for are the new Unique Playing Characters and our World-Cross PvP Arena. For Sword 2: Renaissance, we will have three new characters - Sorceress Emilia, Catherine Torche, and Asoka. Sorceress Emilia has been seen in many of the associated imagery we have released with Sword 2's launch. For example, at E3 Los Angeles we decided to have a larger-than life-size wall panel at our booth. I know players will be excited about Catherine Torche and Asoka. I personally love the design of Asoka and can't wait for her to be in game! Now the World-Cross PvP Arena is the other major gem players will get with Renaissance. This feature will allow players from different worlds to play each other. Currently, players can only play with other players on their particular world, so now we have opened up doors to the community even further.OnRPG: Can you tell us your timeline for the future regarding content? As we mentioned with Renaissance, we are looking towards releasing this expansion this Fall. We also have a web browser game that should be coming out around that time frame as well.OnRPG: You have a Flash browser based game coming out for Sword 2 "in the near future" can you tell us what this is about? Our web browser game we created for additional content for our community. The game gives players the opportunity to win some crazy in game items, and it gives us an opportunity to create some crazy promotions and events with this added content. To give you a general overview, the web game highlights and emulates Colony Wars, a major aspect of Sword 2. We're starting off with releasing a variety of two types of mini-games. One is a memory card game and the other is a jigsaw puzzle. Both games are timed so players must complete the mini-games within that allotted time. Players with the highest scores for those games will have their name appear in the leader board. Now the leader board is where we got a little creative and tried to emulate the meat of the game. The leader board is designed similar to the in-game World Map for Sword 2. There are seven Colonies highlighted on the leader board. Each of those seven Colonies has some mini-games associated with them. If a player obtains the highest score for a particular Colony their name will appear over that city on the map. This is similar to how in Sword 2, when Clans take control over a certain Colony the Clan name will appear on the map. High Scores will get more substantial prizes for having their name appear on the map. However, if players don't just have to have the highest score in order to win prizes. If they successfully complete or beat a mini-game they get a prize. There is also a spinning Level Selector in the web game that directs players to the mini-games associated with one of the seven Colonies. On that spinning Level Selector there is also a chance to win prizes.OnRPG: Thank you very much for your time, would you run us out with a brief summary of what you believe makes Sword 2 great?First thing that comes to mind would be that it's Free2Play. Having the freedom to try something without having to commit to a subscription of said amount of days (unless you really want to), has always been appealing for our player base and it's the reason why our games are Free2Play. Secondly, but more importantly I think that the world and lore behind it is great. The struggle for power and the lore behind it is one of the major aspects of the game that attracted me to produce Sword 2 in the first place. Here you have a long standing history of various Nations from the "Old World" battling over power. That struggle for power, the politics, the drama, and the characters involved in that drama - all of those things carry over to the New World. As a pioneer sent to the New World, you are caught in the middle of all of this!Within the game lore, we have two major Factions - Royalists (those loyal to the Queen and fighting to preserve their power) and Republicans (those fighting against the old establishment and trying to gain their own freedom.) Many of the characters you meet throughout the game and many of the quests you will complete slowly reveal some of the stories, mysteries, and conflicts existing in the New World.Often times, in video games we find the "story" to be somewhat lacking because there is a focus on game mechanics. I feel with Sword 2, that the story has not been compromised. There is a good balance between game-play and immersing the players into the world of Sword 2.
