Space Marine video interview with actor M

The latest Space Marine footage comes from a video interview with actor Mark Strong, who voices hero Captain Titus and, we have to say, brings a tonne of class with him. Strong, who's usually associated with villainous roles in the likes of Sherlock Holmes, Kick-Ass and Green Lantern, talks about the Space Marine story, his heroic character and what he's bringing to the role.Maybe it's the well turned out British accent as opposed to the usual American beefcake approach, but both Strong's interview and the snippets of in-game dialogue feel really refreshing. See for yourself: Watch in HD No comments yet, be the first! For more revealing info on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, take a look at the latest developer diary from earlier this month. 3DS Yoshi, Ace Attorney reveals next week

As well as the rather ugly looking Expansion Slide Pad, a new attachment which adds a second circle pad and set of trigger buttons to 3DS, Nintendo's expected to use its pre-TGS conference next week to announce a new batch of 3DS software. Famitsu has already outed Monster Hunter for 3DS, but according to rumours picked up and translated by Gematsu there are plenty more announcements in store.A new Yoshi side-scroller is apparently in the works at Kirby's Epic Yarn developer Good-Feel, a fifth Ace Attorney featuring Miles Edgeworth is on the way, as is a multiplatform God Eater title for 3DS and Vita, plus a new Etrian Odyssey for 3DS.Nintendo's also expected to announce plans to release a Super Mario Land 3D demo, and to date The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for eShop. Walmart flyer points to US Xbox 360 price

Walmart is reportedly planning to slash $50 off the price of the Xbox 360 4GB Kinect hardware bundle from this Sunday, August 28. That's according to a flyer obtained by Joystiq, which reveals that one of the world's largest retailers is planning a "rollback" on the price, from $299 to $249.This doesn't necessarily mean an official Xbox 360 price reduction is inbound. It could merely be a special promotion, but it wouldn't be the first time a Walmart circular has outed news of a price cut either.Xbox 360 is the top-selling console in the US year-to-date, but the introduction of a global PS3 price cut last week is likely to force Microsoft to react sooner or later. The next closest title is Battlefield 3, and it was up significantly from there. "In terms of the beta test, we have thousands of people that are in current beta test going on right now, and we're learning a lot of great things and getting a lot of great telemetry that's improving the game on every new release." Valve's Newell attacks 'aggressive DRM'

Valve boss Gabe Newell has once again hit out at "aggressive" DRM measure which require players to remain connected to the internet in order to play.Newell last year said that the practice resulted in games that are "worth less" - to a cheering crowd at GDC.This week, in an interview with Kotaku, he went a step further. "We're a broken record on this," said the exec. "This belief that you increase your monetisation by making your game worth less through aggressive digital rights management is totally backwards." Newell added that piracy was "not an issue" for Valve as it is "a service issue, not a technology issue".He cited Russia as an example, which is now Steam's largest European market outside the UK and Germany. Valve had invested in making sure games were properly localised for the region in order to combat piracy."When we entered Russia everyone said, 'You can't make money in there. Everyone pirates,'" he said, going on to explain that, at the time, pirates were localising games better than official publishers."When people decide where to buy their games they look and they say, 'Jesus, the pirates provide a better service for us,'" he commented."The best way to fight piracy is to create a service that people need. I think (publishers with strict DRM) will sell less of their products and create more problems."Customers want to know everything is going to be there for them no matter what: Their saved games and configurations will be there. They don't want any uncertainty." CVG Staff

The Witcher 2 approaches 1m sales

CD Projekt's The Witcher 2 has almost sold a million copies since its release on May 17 this year. The Warsaw Business Journal reports (via Gamasutra) that the title moved 940,000 copies in the first half of 2011.That's good going considering the game has so far only released on PC. An Xbox 360 version is in the pipeline but was recently delayed from this year into Q1 2012. The developer said the legal tangle between Namco and THQ over publishing rights to the game played a part in the decision to push the launch to 2012.On the plus side, studio head Adam Kicinski said: "The extra time will allow us to polish the title to perfection, so that the game offers an ideally balanced, fantastic experience to gamers." Street Fighter 3 Online Edition patch re

Capcom has released the first of a couple of patches that were in the pipeline for Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition. This one adds YouTube video upload support to the Xbox 360 version of the game. As SF3 producer Derek Neal explains: "We're still experiencing some occasional hiccoughs with the XLSP server, so the service might go down intermittently. But it's up right now, and you can see the videos people have been uploading here."He goes on to confirm there's another patch on the way that will tackle other issues with the game. "We have a fix for both the '100 billion % disconnect rate' issue, and the 'it takes a long time to get in a ranked match' issue. These fixes, as well as a few more (an issue with Hugo's trial #2, a stun exploit in trials, etc.), will be making it into our next patch. We will also be raising the online level cap in that patch."Neal says to expect a date for that patch "early next week ... after we submit to Sony and Microsoft".He adds: "Further downstream, we're looking at all of your feedback for potential future updates (beyond the fixes in this post). So, please bear with us as we continue working to make this game even more awesome." Mike Jackson

Layton's new DS quest will hit US shelves on October 17 while Tetris: Axis arrives for 3DS on October 2. The game is the first in a set of three prequels to Curious Village, this one telling the story of how Layton got acquainted with his little sidekick Luke. Mega Man 4 headed for PSN

Mega Man 4 will be arriving on the US PlayStation Store this week. The game, according to reports, will hit the US PSN this week as a PSone Import title, which you might find strange since the game WAS released worldwide - on its original platform, the NES, in 1992-3. The 1999 PSone re-release, however, was only let loose in Japan and that's the version that will obviously be used for the PSN release. Mega Man 4 was notable for being the first game in the classic series in which you could charge up your shot before firing - something which upset Mega Man purists but a mechanic we loved as care-free nippers. It also stars a new main villain, with Dr. Cossack taking the spotlight from the long-running bad man Dr. Wily. As usual for PSone games on PSN, Mega Man 4 will be playable on both PS3 and PSP. Look out for this week's full PSN update release list soon. Mike Jackson

El Shaddai Side-Scroller Coming To Androi

Ignition Entertainment's El Shaddai: Ascension ofrmt Metatron is an unusual game. Visually striking and totally weird, it's an action-platformer but it's also so much more. In what ways? How about this: a cellphone-wielding Lucifer serves as your save point. The game also features a handful of moments that break away from the bizarre 3D worlds, shaking things up by dropping players into 2D side-scrolling environments. The positive reception those moments received surely fueled Ignition's decision to go with El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron Android Version. The first details and screens are posted at Famitsu (via Joystiq), though it's all in Japanese. The release only seems to be confirmed for Japan at this point, and an Xperia Play version of the game is also planned. There's no word on the possibility of an iOS release nor is there any mention of a U.S. release. Speaking as a New York-based iPhone owner, I can honestly say I'm hoping for both.Source: Famitsu

Uncharted Waters Online Arrgh Mateys

By Vincent Haoson, OnRPG Journalist With Uncharted Waters Online finally being officially released, I return to Koei's seven seas F2P MMORPG hoping to see the changes made upon the game's release. Unsurprisingly nothing really has changed with an addition of a few add-ons to the game to which I will elaborate later on.However, before I get ahead of myself (plus I don't want to assume everyone has read my preview) I'll go through the explanation of what the game is about for the benefit of those who stumbled into this review.Uncharted Waters Online is a sea-faring F2P MMORPG from Koei, yes, the company who brought us the Dynasty Warriors series is now venturing into the online market as well (they also brought said franchise to the online market too). The game puts you in the shoes of a either a seafaring merchant, maritime or adventurer in about 16-18th century Europe. Uncharted Waters Online is actually an online spin-off of an old NES and SNES game of the same title.Uncharted Water Online gives you three paths to adventure in-game. You either be the free-spirited travel and discovery centric adventurers, or be the money-centric merchants or the swashbuckler of the seas, maritime. The job classes are easy and self-explanatory enough for anyone who has played any MMORPG. As for those who would be experiencing their first ever MMO in UWO need not fret because the game provides you with a "training course" to help you understand the game's controls and gameplay. The training course in UWO is pretty long-winded and tedious. In fact you can't even skip it so expect the game to treat you like a 10-year-old. The training course is disguised as an "academy course" where you are trained to be an effective sea farer. While other MMOs give you the option to skip it, in UWO it's a prerequisite.Actually, if you're the impatient type (like me) your patience will be tested right then and there. Of course the training awards you with easy fame and experience points, both of which are pretty important in the game. When you mention fame in MMOs you'd expect the usual cosmetic add-ons you'd get in the form of titles or what not. However, in UWO fame is as important as your level. In fact, if you want to get to places in UWO you'd have to be "famous" or you won't be able to dock or even explore other areas. There's also another feature in UWO that you'd normally expect as something "cosmetic" or rather something inconsequential for gameplay. And that's the emphasis on your character's looks and disguise. In terms of your character's "looks" this is translated into Formality Points. The idea behind the formality point system is that better looking characters have a higher sway in the social aspects of the game. To be honest, it's a nice game concept really, but you won't really get to feel the full effects of it till you start fiddling with the investing system. Of course its common sense that investors would want to talk to a spiffy seafarer rather than a dirty pirate, and the NPCs in this game are no different. On the other hand you need to also "disguise" yourself if you plan to visit ports and countries controlled by the moors. Being a "Christian" in the game would mean you are only limited to visit "Christianized" areas and you'd need to "disguise" yourself if you ever want to visit other areas.UWO's gameplay is pretty simple, you dock on ports, explore cities, trade, handle pirates, players or even sea creatures and that's that. The game uses a skill system where every level up would allow you to use more skills in whatever tree you choose. You can start out as an adventurer but have skills from the maritime or merchant tree or vice versa. Also, the game really feels like you are a seafarer with all the emphasis on ports, travelling on ships and even cargo carrying for trade. The game really tries hard to make the game feel authentic and they don't disappoint there. From ship maintenance to hiring your crew and even more in travelling on the sea, you will get your wits tested from allocating resources, stocking up on supplies and having to think tactically on how your ships are fitted. If you want an online game that'd deliver the sea faring experience of the age of discovery, then this is your game. In the spirit of making things authentic, the battles in UWO are tailored similar to actual naval battles of old. There are no instant WIN buttons here but instead you have to angle your ship to be able to fire (if you have only side cannons). You can also "ram" enemy ships if you have the proper equipment or board the other ship if you have enough crewmates to take over. With the release of the game the inclusion of an item store is expected, and the good thing about the premium store of UWO is that the things players can purchase aren't game breaking. In fact most of the bonuses you can purchase in the game are mostly related to ship travel, exp gain or even cosmetic add-ons and that's that.Overall, UWO in its released form still retains a lot of the things that I enjoyed from my first impression preview. The game is still a skill grindfest and the long winded tutorial still got on my nerves. My fear of any balance breaking addition to the game was unfounded with the premium store only providing convenience rather than boosting player's capabilities to get an upper hand.I also like how the game tries hard to be as authentic as it can be. With everything down to the ship maintenance, add-ons and little nuances that really create an ambiance matching the great age of discovery.Of course the only problem is that your characters look more Asian than European, but really that's just nitpicking.Graphics - 3/5 Controls - 4/5 Features - 4/5 Customization - 2.5/ 5 Community - 3/5

PlayStation Vita Launch Window To Include

Sony has announced that there will be 100 PlayStation Vita titles available during the Vita launch window. Unfortunately it wasn't exactly made clear during their press conference just when the window starts or when it goes until, but that's a hell of a lot of games. Some that were mentioned include FISH ON, Dynasty Warriors, LittleBigPlanet 2, Wipeout, UMC, Uncharted, Enverybvodys Golf, Ridge Racer, Michael Jackson, Field, BlazBlue Extend, and Lord of Apocylpse. Titles like Tales of Innocence, Gravity Daze, Metal Gear Solid HD Edition, Fifa, and others will follow sometime after launch. Does this many games seem too ambitious for the PS Vita's launch, or are you excited about all of the variety?

Twinbee confirmed for 3DS 3D Classics

Twinbee - a classic upscrolling shooter - will be the next game to arrive in the 3DS' 3D Classics range. Originally released in Japan in 1985 by Konami as a coin-op arcade title, it was later ported to the Famicom (Japan's NES) but never saw a release outside the Far East. The most unique aspect of the game is its item system - you shoot at clouds to reveal floating bells that change colour as you shoot them. You juggle them with your bullets, trying not to let them fall off the screen until they turn the desired colour before collecting them to receive a specific power-up - all while trying to dodge bullets and kill enemies (check the video below). Nintendo Japan has confirmed that the title will arrive on 3DS with new 3D effects on August 10, but will lack the two-player option featured in the original. It's also unclear if the game will come to western regions considering the original's Japan-only release. To be honest, we wouldn't be too bothered if it doesn't. We're hoping to see some better games come out of the 3D Classics range. And there's already an upscrolling shooter in there (Xevious). If it was the Super Nintendo sequel, Pop n' Twinbee, we'd be a lot more excited. That game was MINT. Mike Jackson
